Sorry I got you and 3Loves mixed up Drewslou. I really can't believe I forgot it was Dave Matthews you are goingt to see though, I love Dave Matthews! :nervous

Well, it's Monday morning and back to normal life for me. The weekends are always hard for me because I just do not have a regular routine. My goal on the weekends is really to just maintain the weight I've lost during the rest of the week.

We went to see Pirates last night and, I was more than a bit dissapointed with the end of the movie. Talk about leaving you hanging... I don't really appreciate paying that much to see a major motion picture (not to mention waiting in line for an hour) to be left hanging for another two to three years! I don't mind leaving things open for another movie, but, I think Disney went a little far this time. Even my 10 year old son was dissapointed. Oh well!

Have a great week everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Well, I finally had to break down and buy some new pants yesterday. The ones that I was wearing were literally falling off! Guess what? I bought pants 2 sizes smaller and a couple of shirts that were a size or so smaller yippee!!!! I haven't weighed in the last few days due to TOM, so I'll try to weigh in tomorrow and update my prgress. I feel like I'm eating more now and think that I may have to go ahead and get my scheduled first fill on July 18th. I may be at a plateau... I've been tracking my calories on fitday.com and am averaging 1100 -1200 calories a day. I didn't get to exercise Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so back to the pool this evening. I'm trying to drink more Water, but sometimes its hard!

Question: How many calories are you guys eating?

Congrats on the NSVs and the weight loss everyone! Keep up the great work!

Hi Maysters,

Well, TOM and I'm crying at the drop of a hat! I don't think I'll weigh myself this week. Too depressed. Thought I had NSV's last week but we had family pics this weekend, saw myself, and forgot all about them. I won't give up! Christy668, you are awsome! Keep it up and thanks for the smile you give us!

Hey ya'll I have a question. I had my first fill this past Thursday. Four cc in a Vanguard. Definitely swollen afterwards. Friday I drank Protein drinks all day. Saturday and Sunday tiny bits of food chewed thoroughly.

This morning I ate two lil smokies and 1/4 of a scrambled egg.

So I'm thinking to myself that this isn't very much food. How in the world am I going to eat 1200 calories. I would have to start in the morning and work at it all day. No way to keep the schedule of three to four meals a day.

Keeping to semi schedule is very important as I am an insulin dependent diabetic. Although I have been able to cut out my evening dose entirely and my morning dose is less than half of what it used to be.

Being hungry is not an issue. Just getting in the calories needed seems to be.

I think I am going to start drinking CIB in two cups of skim milk to get some calories/protein in.

I also ate an Atkins Breakfast Bar today that had 15 Gms of Protein and 150 calories.

I am just curious as to what everybody else is doing to ensure that you actually get enough calories to meet your basic needs.

Myra

Kim2behealthy - Congrats on the -2 sizes. To answer your question, I eat between 1400 - 1600 calories a day. I use WW points to track how much I food I am eating and I think that 1 point is equal to about 50 calories. I hate to count calories so the points are just an easier way for me to track my intake.

While I do have restriction, I am not so restricted that I can't eat that much pretty easily. I find if I lower my calorie intake below 1300 or1400 for more than a few days, I don't lose. I am happy with my slow progress and am afraid to lower my calorie intake to a level that I feel I couldn't maintain if I ever had to have an unfill or, God forbid, if I ever lose my band.

Myra - If you read the above you will know that getting in enough calories is not a problem for me, however, if it ever is, I would do what you are doing and drink more calories.

Christy - I responded to your "Wahoo" thread but I wanted to say that I just love seeing the pictures of you looking so happy in front of your great car!

On another note, I have been making really healthy food choices since before my surgery and, yesterday, while at Pirates of the Caribbean, I made some not-so-healthy choices. I could afford to do that before banding because I could eat enough to get what my body needed and still eat a good amount of junk. This is not the case anymore. I didn't get in nearly enough Protein, Water, or fruits and vegetables yesterday and, this morning, I thought I was going to die during Water aerobics. I had absoutely no energy after just 15 minutes of an hour workout. I am very glad to see that along with all of you wonderful people, my body is also going to keep me accountable on this journey.

Well, sounds like most of you are doing great! I gained 4 lbs since the challenge started and then last week lost it again... hopefully for good! I started last week at a gym, and then today I didn't go, I am fighting myself more than anything on this treck. I still want to eat all the time (even tho I have restriction now) and I know it will get better after school starts back when I am back to my routine. I am my own worst ememy. I don't want to be but I am finding this really hard. I was so gung ho on doing this (surgery) and I really thought that if I weren't hungry all the time that I could beat this. Now I've thrown another road block in my own way...I need help!! :help: :help: :help: I've got to figure this thing out and find out why I seem to be afraid to lose weight. Does anyone else out there feel like this? Maybe sometimes?? I think I know why I am afraid to lose weight, but I don't know how to get my mind out of this rut. It's nothing concious that I am thinking like I don' t deserve this, or, men may just not like me anyway. But those things are in the back corners of my mind and I'm not sure how to just sweep them out of there completely! I need to go to a shrink...not sure how I'm going to fit that in my schedule, like exercise when school starts back. I have 2 jobs and my mom is in assisted living and I have to see her when I'm not working my 2nd job. That doesn't leave a lot of time for me and I know I have to take care of me more. Oh well, just venting, maybe writing all this down will help some. Thanks, if you have any suggestions just let me know.

Carol

Hey Carol,

I know it's really hard to retrain our minds. Once you have good restriction, the band takes care of the physical hunger but, unfortunately, not the emotional hunger.

I would encourage you to not expect too much too soon. You may have gained, but you did something about it and lost it again. You need to give your body and your mind time to adjust to all this.

It sounds like you have a really busy schedule, but, remember to take some time to help yourself. In the mean time, until your schedule calms down a bit, don't be too hard on yourself.

Thanks, Linda. The mind can be an evil thing. When I put the angel and devil on my sholders in my signature I guess it was really appropriate for me. I just thought it was kind of funny at the time. Hopefully I'm just having a bad couple of days and things will look up soon. My schedule, when school starts, is much better for me even tho I don't feel like I have enough time to get everything done. I also don't have time to get bored and try to eat everything in the house. I am feeling restriction since my fill and I hope that helps. At least I won't be able to eat as much!

Hi May Bandsters,

I will be getting my second fill in two more days and I sure hope it helps! I have been fighting with the same two pounds since May 22! Seems a little odd that nearly all my weight was lost in the first three weeks after surgery. I have gone back and forth with two pounds now for seven weeks. I have had my moments when I have felt pretty discouraged about this but I keep hanging on with the hope that a second fill might make a difference. My first fill was quite small. Crossing my fingers. Maybe I should cross my hands over my mouth instead!!

Hope

I have been able to get into some smaller clothes in the last week or so, so at least I have that to cheer me on a little in spite of what my scales are screaming at me every morning.

Congrats Hippo's Hope! I bought a new pair of capri pants last week and have had a hard time wearing them, not because they don't fit but because I'm not used to buying clothes that DO fit and fit well and comfortable!!! I am getting tired of baggy pants. My shirts will probably fit a while longer since I carry most of my weight around my middle. But I can hardly stand the bagginess of my bottoms, if it wasn't for the drawstring waist in most of my pants, they'd fall off! (Can you believe I'm complaining about BIG clothes?) I better shut my mouth and keep my lips smiling, what a wonderful thing to have a problem with!

Sounds like everyone is doing great with the challenge so far! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I am dragging butt today! I worked out pretty hard last night at the gym. I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the elliptical. Then moved onto the circut training machines. My legs and arms feel like Jello today! It hurts in a good way though. I saw a smaller number on the scale this morning... hope it stays there for a few days! I seem to fluctuate like 4-5 pounds during the day. Does that happen to anyone else? Weird!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday! :)

Peace!

**edited to add... my mother in law called me droopy drawers last weekend! I can certainly relate to the pants getting bigger. Thank god for drawstrings!

Goodmorning MayBandsters!

Thank you Christy for the Fitday link, very helpful. I was May1806, which is my banding date, I just found all the cool stuff and wanted to personalize my appearance a bit. So many of you have such a cheery look and I wanted to participate. I haven't lost an ounce since my last post. I rescheduled my fill for the 21st. My cast should be off by then to make my trip to MX easier thru security and customs. I am happy for all the loose clothes I'm reading about-very encouraging! I was going to be a closet bandster, (children, other family and friends have no clue, only told my husband because he might have missed me while I was in Monterrey! He, by the way is the vault for trusting with ones secrets.) but discovered this site and I love it. Enough for today-I'll post the ticker thing later.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
