Any suggestions on a surgeon in Texas (DFW area)

Hi everyone! After a lot of research, I'm leaning towards having the sleeve done. Now, I have no idea how to weed through the surgeons. I live in Texas (DFW area).

Who did you use? What were the pros/cons? Would you use him/her again?

Thanks so much! :)

Hello Penpen!

I used Dr David Kim in Colleyville. Absolutely would recommend him to anyone. He and his entire stafff are very friendly and the whole process was so easy -- from the insurance approval to the post-op appointments. Great Dr!

Send the link and I will vote for you some more, Vicki. Loved your video! Don't give up!! I am glad I did not give up. My surgery is May 31st.

I am meeting with Dr. Kim tomorrow for my very first appointment. I am so excited!!!

I found him becasue he was running a contest for a free weight loss surgery last month and I was chosen as a finalist. Videos will be posted on his website www.drdkim.net on May 12th and voting will begin at 10:30 am. Voting goes through June 1st at 5:00. My husbands insurance excludes WLS so I desperately need this.

He has a very good reputation and everyone says they love him. I will know tomorrow!

PLEASE VOTE FOR ME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

Dr. Steven Simon at AZ Weightloss Solutions, and Paradise Valley Hospital in No. Phoenix are excellent. They have supported me 110%!!! Top knotch staff, and excellent doctor.

Nick Nicholson, MD is the very best DFW has to offer. He has been on Good Morning America, has one of the lowest complication rates in the entire USA and the lowest in the metroplex. His office is a very small, boutique operation and you get to know everyone by name. These folks love what they do. He will meet with you one on one rather than making you attend a seminar if that is what you prefer and his pricing is highly competitive. I would not go anywhere else.

Hi everyone!! Thank you all for letting me know who you chose! I had actually wanted to go to Dr. Nick but my insurance wouldn't cover him. Then it was between Dr. Barker and Dr. Davidson. Barker did the Bypass surgery on a lady that my husband works with. Dr. Davidson did the sleeve on my sister-in-law's friend. After meeting with Davidson, I decided that I really liked him. So as of right now, I'm waiting on my insurance to approve the surgery. Will hopefully hear something really soon.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE DR. JAYASEELAN of Dallas, TX.

If you want details, send me a PM. It appears his website been taken down.

I personally used Dr. davidson and was highly pleased. His staff is very friendly and personable in addition to him being a top notch surgeon. I have heard great things about Dr. Nick Nicholson, Dr. Barker, and Dr. Kim as well. They are all high rated surgeons. I would look at their programs, go to a seminar for each look at the aftercare, diet expectations, office hours, wait times, etc. And see what program fits with you. One of the things I liked about Davidson was the aftercare was all prepaid scheduled and planned to keep me on track. I also liked the info session as it included a one on one with the nurse and doc, and insurance guy, a full history, as well as the info session. I did have to pay a copayment for my insurance for the evaluation. Best of luck to you.

I just reread and saw you chose Dr. Davidson. :)

Yes, one of my big concerns was that I would end up having this awesome tool but not know what to do with it. After talking with Dr. Davidson, I found out that they have a 5 year program to keep you on top of information, your own health, etc. Also, they require you to attend a class before surgery to learn about what you need to do. No guessing!!! :) Plus you get this really cool notebook that tells you everything you really need to know and more. Plus, I wanted someone who was close enough if I had problems along the way.

Thank you for reaffirming my decision.
