Ok as I stated in a prior post I have gained 6 pounds in one week and I think that I am retaining Water. How can I get the water off? As I stated before I am trying not to panic, but I am beginning to get real nervous. I did not go through all of this to gain this much weight back and I still have quite a bit of weight to lose. I feel the old fat disappointment feelings coming on. I really hope someone can help me.

What are you eating daily (carbs, Protein, and Water intake)? What is your daily exercise like. It helps sometimes to see what you are eating (maybe you have increased your salt?). This information will help others give you ideas as to what to do.

Close to TOM? Do you use a lot of salt? Water is just a pain...you know it's not real weight, but it's depressing to see it on the scale. I'm sure it will come off soon and take some true poundage with it. Don't give up!

No Im more than a week away from the TOM. No I do not use a lot of salt. This is extremely frustrating and I really want it to go away.

I went to the Dr, who wanted full blood work due to it possibly being many things. Ultimately, it was a diuretic that he prescribed that helped.

Was the diuretic some type of Water pill?

Yes, it's a Water pill. Some of the over the counter ones have caffeine and other things in them, so I'm not sure if that would be the way to go. And I'm not sure if the diuretic the Dr. prescribed me is any different, but I know it was a low dose. At any rate, it has definitely helped!

I'm on a diuretic called Diazide (Dyazide?) and I can actually notice a 5-8 pound weight gain when I stop taking it for a couple days. Crazy, I know!

Leah, When were you sleeved and has this been going on the whole time for you? I'm just curious because my Dr. swore he had never seen this happen with anyone else.

Not much to add other than make sure you are getting plenty of Fiber in your diet either with food or supplement. I will have a stall and then remember my Fiber and suddenly the pipes are working and the stall is over.

We always worry about Water weight but our poo weights more than our pee..... Sorry for the bluntness :o

I force myself to add 2 tea spoons full of fiber to one glass of water/non-caloried drink every evening to the keep the plumbing from backing up. I'm still mainly on Protein so this really helps. I use Benefiber.

I am actually still pre-op...just beginning my journey! I was seeing a weight loss doctor at the time who was prescribing phentermine and I pretty much told him I felt like a beached whale retaining all this water! Lol. That's why he put me on the diuretic.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
