Here is my progress so far...with pics!

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to share my progress so far with my sleeve. I started my weight loss journey with a lapband at 286 pounds. My band leaked, slipped, and broke apart in my body. No fun and it never really worked. I had my revision to the sleeve on December 27, 2010. One of the best days of my life! So far, I am down 47 pounds in three and a half months. I feel amazing and I am so happy! A few recent NSVs. I made it to ONE-DERLAND! I went to a wedding, was gone for a weekend with no calorie or carb counting, and I LOST two pounds. I have to shop in the "normal" section of the store and I still can't believe it! Sleeve life is great! Don't hesitate if you are thinking of having the surgery. I LOVE the sleeve and you will too. I can't wait to finish my journey and make it to my goal. Here is a before and after pic.

You look AMAZING!!!!! Way to go!

You look Great!! I think with the sleeve, trips, etc. are not such a stress - we all still have the sleeve limiting our intake. Love my sleeve :D.

What is a NSV?

A non-scale victory. I guess now that I think about it, two of the things I listed had to do with the scale. LOL

You look GREAT,,,I guess I shouldn't feel bad, that I have lost 30lbs since Feb 28...thanks for the testament!!!

Congratulations!!! You really look great! Thank you for sharing your pictures with us!

Just wondering where you had your sleeve done? I'm considering Mexico and am looking for info! Thanks!

May...I am 5 days post-op with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, and my daughter was sleeved by him 7-1-10. She has lost 90 lbs and feels better than she ever has. My experience there was awesome. Don't let anyone say you are crazy for considering Mexico. My daughter and I are both registered nurses, and the hospital there is remarkable. Not only was it beautiful, it was cleaner than any I have ever seen. My trash was emptied and my floor mopped 3...count 'em 3 times a day. Beautiful marble floors, bathrooms better than any hotel I have ever stayed in. The personnel are extremely attentive and the doctors are so caring and professional. Two of them made rounds 3 times daily. I had a slight problem with my BP, as I missed a day of my medication, but it was dealt with promptly and effectively. Hopefully I will not need it in a few months.

Postoperatively, I have had a very uneventful course so far. No nausea, very little pain (no pain med since my plane trip home on Sunday) and no problem getting my liquids in at all. I am having juice, Water, broth, tea and whey Protein mixed in water during my 10-day clear liquid diet. My daughter says by this Friday I will be wanting to chew on my pillow, but so far, so good.

Hope this information helps. Do your research. There are several docs in Mexico that sleevers on the board swear by. Don't be afraid to go there for your surgery. My insurance didn't cover it, so I was self-pay, but that way we just did our research, cleared it with our primary care docs here in the States and scheduled our surgeries. No jumping through hoops to make the insurance company happy. Good luck with your research. Keep us posted...Kathe
