Hello, sorry to hear about your nausea. Are you getting a good bit of Fluid in? Dehydration can cause nausea. And are you taking Nexium or Prilosec or anything? You may want to try that and see if it helps. Good luck and call your dr if you don't find relief soon.

I had my sleeve done on 02/22 and have had similar issues like you. I had to go get IV fluids last week because I was dehydrated, and I get spasms right after I eat really bad and YEAH the spit thing I have too but I think its because of the dehydration but some days seem better than other and it depends on what I eat too. I am still playing with foods but I noticed if I stick with sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding that doesn't happen to me so we are just gonna have to ease into new foods gently and hopefully this will stop.

Hi Jessica, I was nauseated for a while after surgery but Im happy to report that its gone away for the most part. I had mine done on 12/21/10 and I rarely have nausea now. It does happen when I eat a little too much but other than that im alot better.

As for spitting, I didnt have that problem but I had a thick white film on my tongue for 6 weeks or so and bad breath and dry mouth as well. I still struggle with the dry mouth if Im not hydrated well.

Hope that helps.

Dehydration can cause nausea. Have you tried warm liquids? I know they helped me in the begining to relax my tummy.I would suggest to get in your fluids now and not worry about the other stuff as much.

I got sleeved 2/1/2011. I was nauseated but it did go away. Now, there are still things that make me nauseated....for instance fruit juice. My surgeon says that just because something makes me sick now, doesn't mean that in a month I will have the same reaction. As your body heals, things will get better. Right after my surgery I had HORRIBLE issues with acid. I had to take Prilosec daily to prevent it. That also has subsided.

I was sleeved the same day as you and I have not had the nausea issues or the spitting thing, but I absolutely cannot drink anything cold. It sends my stomach into a spasm like crazy. I don't know if that might be what's causing your problem or not. I can eat popsicles, but they are not as cold by the time I swallow if that makes sense! I don't bite and chew them, just let them melt in my mouth.

Sounds like it might just be dehydration. Just try to drink as much as you can get in. It is hard for me, I have to remind myself to drink. I will be so glad when things get easier to go down.

First the nausea should go away, drink as much Fluid as you can, remember to sip, next if this precis please contact your surgeon, he or she should be able to assist you in your discomfort.

Good luck and be well.

I agree with autumnlily. I only drank warm liquid for the first while. Cold liquids caused spasms, warm went down smooth. I also had to Water down my warm apple juice, broth, etc to make it go down easier. Get comfy with a drink and sip sip sip. Don't stop until it's gone. Yes it'll take a while, probably a long while. If you still don't feel better, I think a doctors visit may be in order. Hope you feel better quick

I was very nauseated immediately following my surgery as well. I found that whatever the anti-gas medicine the doctor prescribed for me really helped reduce the nausea.

Good luck! It will get better!

hi,

Sorry to hear about your nausea, I was sleeved on 3/1 but didn't get that. I did do the spit thing, I was spitting every minute for the first week, I don't know why, I just needed to spit!!!! Then it stopped, all I did for the 1st week was broths and popsicles, I went through 3 boxes of popsicles the 1st week, but doctor said it's fine and that was prob helping me keep hydrated, I couldn't tolerate Water, it just caused me to gag. I use to drink alot of water before my surgery, now I can't

You might try the calorie free Gatorade. Sometimes the electrolytes help. Hope you feel better soon. Congrats on your sleeve!

Bless your heart, the spit thing is called sliming and that will go away. . the stomach is trying to make digestive juices but it's not working how it used to so unfortunately it comes up making you spit. . .i am 14+ months out and if i eat too much or too fast i still get that. . . the nausea is going to go away eventually, but I would call the doctor to let them know you're having a problem cause if it's recorded that is better then not calling and them wanting to know why you didn't call earlier. . . don't worry it DOES get better. . . right now your in the relearn phase and it really sucks. . . pretty soon it'll be gone and your going to be just fine! Good luck and call the doctor to let them know of your nausea. . .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
