Hi all,

Welcome all newbies. Remember if God brings you to it he will bring you through it.

It's been awhile since I post as I been in a bad MS flare since late October. But on scale today and happy to be down total of 63 lbs. it feels good to still have loss 11 lbs during this flare. This is opposite when I had the band as I gained 30 lbs during a 3 month recovery. So I just praise God for getting the sleeve.

Also, Please keep prayers up as MS is progressing and I want to walk the Golden Gate Bridge again (using my walker)!

Date 4/22

Hw 266

Cw 203 !!!

Hi...Im praying for you as it relates to your MS.

Thx, much appreciated !

Hello Everyone,

I'm Keisha. I'm new to the whole sleeve process. Actually, I just began my pre-op procedures in December. I'll likely have surgery in May or June. I'm excited and nervous about the entire process.

I'm encouraged as I read posts from veteran sleevers on this site. I would appreciate any encouragement and advice that any of you have to offer.

Nice to meet you Keisha!!!

You have plenty of time to talk to post op folks and do research on pros and cons so I would suggest doing that during your wait time. Watching your food choices now is a great thing to do to cause you will likely be heavily restricted for a good 6 months post op (ie no rice no bread no fried foods limited caffeine no sweets no pasta).

No way to really fully prepare for WLS but do realize that aside from the obvious risks and benefits of surgery it is a very very emotional journey. I'm only 22 days out but I've gone through tons of emotions ranging from relief to regret to frustration to sadness to unbelief and beyond.

Best wishes to you!!

Hi, all! I'm Stacie and I'm 18 days post op. My

I have eaten off plan a bit lately and wondering if anyone participates in support outside of WLS support groups, like 12-step meetings?

No, but sometimes I feel I need it.

Although my best support had been here.

Hello All!!

I just t happened to stumble across this topic, and glad I did!! I'm 3 weeks pre-op, and can't wait to get this journey started!!! Well, not actually looking forward to the actual surgery part, but looking forward to the losing and essentially getting my life back!!

Any good words??

Unfortunately this thread doesn't get much attention, just an occasional post here and there. But that could change, I find most of my questions unless ethnic specific are answered on all the boards. Good luck on your journey.

I'm three weeks post-op as of tomorrow. The surgery is the easy part so don't sweat it. I had to stay in the hospital six days due to severe nausea. Besides that my surgery had no complications, I just went back to work today. I weight myself this morning and I am 24lbs down. I know I would have never got this far on my weightloss surgery without going through the journey with my sleeve. Best decision I've made, it seems difficult at first but I think it was in my head'

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
