Is carbonated flavored water allowed on pre-op liquid diets?

My guide says "flavored Water is ok", so I'm wondering about carbonated flavored water as well.

For those on a SlimFast liquid diet + one real meal per day (5 oz meat, 2 cups veggies).

thanks!

As long as it is zero calorie! Post op you will not be able to do carbonation.

after surgery defintly a no no. I love the fruit carbonated Water from wal-mart it has no sugar it is awesome..I don't really think I will miss all of the carbonation cause I drink a lot of tea

I would think carbonation in anything would be a definite no no. But what if you let the carbonation subside by opening it and letting it sit opened for quite a while. This is what I have done in the past with sprite when I am ill. It takes a while for it to go away completely (and should be room temp too, not cold). Maybe just leave a bunch on the counter overnight and see what happens.

As always, ask your doc.
