Hunger Signs?

I am on my 6th day pre-op and was wondering how you guys know when you're hungry. For the first few days I didn't feel anything at all, so sipping was automatic. Yesterday I had some yogurt in the evening and that was okay. But this morning I felt this horrible feeling that felt like it was coming from the base of my stomach, like a twisting, knotting, want to throw up feeling. It was quasi-painful and made me double over. Is this how I'm going to know I'm hungry from now on? I'm assuming it's hunger because there is nothing else wrong with me and the feeling is going away as I eat my egg. Just curious on the thoughts of others. Thanks.

I had that feeling and was told it was acid. I was given Prilosec & it did get much better. I noticed you said you were already eating an egg!! Are you able to eat already? I have to be on full liquids til 3 weeks post op & today is only my 9th day. I would LOVE to be able to eat an egg. :)

Hi Rhonda! I am on the Cornell Sleeve Diet, which is published here: http://www.cornellweightlosssurgery.org/pdf/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.pdf

I am able to eat egg as long as it's poached, scrambled, or as egg salad I think. I had a scrambled egg this morning. It took me half an hour to eat it but it was sooo good. I'm not able to eat real food though.

I sure wish I could go by your diet instead of mine! I looked at it & it's a lot different, but I LIKE it! I wonder why all dr's have to be different? If my dr says its NOT good to eat stuff like that until after 3 weeks, then why does yours say it is? It's just confusing to me & I wish my dr. could've used your dr's diet! LOL

Thanks 4 sharing with me!

Good luck with your recovery.

P.S. As for the hunger feeling....I'm not sure I know what it feels like now because my stomach rumbles all the time. Therefore, I'm not sure if it's hunger pangs or acid. I hope it gets easier to determine over time. Keep in touch! :)

For two weeks, I couldn't have anything that wouldn't go through a straw!! :) I had sugar free Jello and sugar free Cool Whip, unbeknowst to him I think....the dietitian has that on the ok'd things to eat, but he is really cautious about his staple line, or at least I am guessing that I why it is liquids only.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
