Received final approval from insurance co (Aetna) Met with Dr Schmidt, he is planning a minimum 2 days hospital stay as I live 100 miles from Hackensack Hosp. Also having Hiatial Hernia repaired at same time, trying to get my head in the right place for the extra pain associated with the repair. Surgery Jan 10th. Merry Christmas to all

Hi January sleevers, looks like I'll be joining you! I just found out this morning that my surgery has been scheduled for Jan 4th! I'm so excited.

A little about me.... I am a 27 year old stay at home Mom and Wife. My son is 16 months old and has endless energy. I've been over 300lbs since high school. I reached my highest weight of 350 the day I had my son via c-section. I've been hovering around 320 ever since he was born. I've been heavy my whole life and I'm tired of being the biggest person in the room. I'm also really tired of breaking things like chairs and toilet seats =o( so embarrassing. I'm ready for this!

It's nice to meet you all, I'm glad we are all in the same boat together.

I have to have all my pre-op testing this week, but I'm not sure what to expect. Any ideas?

2011 is going to rock for us!!!

Me, I am scheduled for the 10th in Mexico. I have had my moments, and they do continue. I was reminded that sometimes there are complications by another person who posted. Still, I have to remind myself what everyone on this forum has said in many different ways. This is a wonderful tool to help improve my health & welbeing. Yes, I too have found myself feeling as tho this is my last time I can enjoy this food or that, but I try to remind myself that it may also be te last time I get on the scale and fret that I have not been able to control my food intake without help.

No willies for me yet, I'm excited. But I have been on the liquid diet for about 6 hours and I'm dying to eat food... but it's ok, I can stick this out! I just wish my doctor's office would call to set up my pre-op testing... next tuesday is approaching rapidly!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
