Expected a stall - but a gain???

Recommended Posts

I fully expected to stall around week 3 and that's exactly what I did. But I weighed this morning and was up 3 lbs from last Monday morning - weird. I'm not really freaking out too much because I know it has to be Water weight somehow because there is no way I even ATE 3 lbs of food - LOL! Have others experienced this too?

Yup, I gained. And I still haven't lost all that I gained. I stalled the second week after surgery and I keep going up and down a pound. I am just over a month out and I lost about 8 pounds the two weeks before surgery and around 11 after. Sure not what I was expecting!dry.gif

I lost 18 pounds before surgery and gained every one of them back after getting out the hospital. It wasn't until the 2 and 3rd week I started losing. the 4th week, I lost a couple of pounds, the 5th week 1 pound -- so my body is completely fighting this low-calorie thing I've just done to it -- but you know who is going to win, right? The body can fight me all it wants, but I will triumph and the fat will go!!!

I only lost 2 pounds during week 2. Then I gained a pound since Friday - and I am still on liquids.

However, I now fit clothes that I didn't fit into 2 weeks ago, so I am getting smaller. That was really helpful since the scale was making me nuts.. I think it's just Water weight and my body adjusting.

I am sure you've dieted in the past. I've had times where the scale didn't move and didn't move and then all of a sudden it was down 4-5 pounds in one day.. Thats what I am assuming will happen here.. I hope.. :)

You just made my day  I have been feeling like a fool trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, I will lose a couple of pounds, and then oops they are back...what the hell??? It feels better to know that I'm not the only one trying to get my head and new tummy to work together :P We are all wonderful, aren't we?? ;)

Ok, so as long as I know I am not alone LOL! I know that there is no way to really *gain* weight on only 750 calories a day and if I wasn't such a scale addict I'm sure I would have never noticed. I'll take up 3 and then down 5 anyday! It's the net results that matter!

I'm exactly where you are. I had my surgery a day after yours and lost like crazy for the first couple weeks. I was teasing my mom telling her "don't walk behind me, you might catch a pound!"

Now I'm up two pounds and it caught me off guard. I know enough from reading around here that I need to get my Protein in, which I haven't been able to do alot of. And I need to start exercising. It's a good thing this website is out there. Otherwise I would be losing my mind!

Good luck!

But you know it's true -- if we work the sleeve, no matter how long it takes us, we will get to goal. I am a firm believer in that. My body can moan and complain, add a pound or two as retribution, but in the end I will be the victor. Seriously. I will. :)

Hi, I am a scale addict and have to say that is the dumbest thing I do because I am usually either disappointed that I did not lose pounds in the last 24hrs(G) I have had some gain during my stall but it dropped a couple of days later.

I weighed in yesterday morning and was the same/maybe up a pound. I was so pissed, I didn't even register it! I like the comment... I didn't even eat 3lbs of food?!?! haha... That's what I was thinking.. how can I gain a pound on so few calories? I am trying to up my fluids and Protein as much as I possibly can, but damn it's hard!!!

Hang in there everyone!!

I'm a scale addict, too!

I try very hard not to let it get to me, though. Now that I'm three months out, I see the pattern.

I gain anywhere from 1.5-3 pounds twice a month: at ovulation, and during my period. The scale also will not move during that time. Once that part is over I lose the weight and usually a few extra pounds.

Even with the small gains each cycle I'm still losing 15 pounds a month - in reality I lose about five pounds a week three weeks of the month and nothing when I have my cycle. And I'm a slow loser! I can't be unhappy.

Try not to let it mess with your head too much. You're defintely not alone.

When the scale starts to seriously affect your moods and seeing no change (or heaven forbid, a small gain) puts you in a rotten mood for the whole day it's time to put the scale away for a day or two. I speak from experience! Usually after a day or two things settle down and I usually see at least a small drop in weight during that time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
