Would love some advice from those at Kaiser Richmond

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, My name is Sara and I am new to this site, I am going through Kaiser Richmond and I live in Sacramento. I have completed all the pre-surgical appts and I am finally 6 lbs below Dr. Fisher's goal weight. My appt with the case manager is Oct 4th, so I'm hoping for an Oct surgery date. Anyone thats been through the appt with the case manager there and has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. From what I've heard she isn't the easiest women on earth to deal with. Are any of you going to the Point West Support Group tomorrow?

Hi sstoots! I also have Dr. Fisher. My appt with him is scheduled for this Tuesday in Vacaville. I already met with the psychologist and I weighed in and had already loss 8 pounds. How many pounds did Dr. Fisher indicate you had to lose if I can ask. I'm not looking forward to the meeting with the case manager. I didn't realize the support group was tomorrow, or else I would have made plans to attend. How much time has lapse since you met with Dr. Fisher. Good luck on the 4th, please let all of know how you did and if you got your date. I'm up in Auburn so let's stay in touch.

Hi Cyclemom,

Congrats on your weight loss!!!:glare:

I had my orientation back in Feb 09 (I weighed in at 242), then I had my Psych appt in May 09, I kind of just blew it all off I guess I just wasnt ready, then in June of this year I started going to the gym and I lost a few pounds (I had got up to 255 at this point) so it got me back on track. I had to go to a refresher orientation which was in July and thats the first I had ever heard of the sleeve, I was all along planning on having the bypass and even after the orientation I had not changed my mind. I had my appt with Dr. Fisher August 13th (I was at 225), I was very nervous but he was a doll, I really liked him a lot, he was really interested in anything my husband or I had to say and was willing to answer any questions, he even asked about my kids and their weight and gave me some tips on helping them. This was the 1st time that I considered the sleeve, he said that he would do the bypass on me but that his recommendation would be the sleeve, at that point he said I had lost enough weight but that he was going to set my goal at 220 to give me some time to do research and make up my mind on which surgery I wanted. So I continued eating healthier and going to the gym and went for a weigh in at my PCP's office not expecting to be at goal yet and i was at 214, 6 pounds below. As soon as I got home I called Richmond and told them I was at goal, then they ordered an EKG and some blood work, they told me when that came back to call them and they would schedule the case manager appt but when I did they had forgotten to order a nicotine urine test (anyone that's ever been a smoker) which had to be done before they would schedule it and that took 8 days to come back. I finally got those results on Friday and Sara scheduled the appt with the case manager today. I am so nervous about this appt though, It's driving me nuts!B)

Are you the one that I read is moving to Cool? I have a few freinds that used to live there.

Hey sstoots! Wow great job on your weight loss, 6 pounds below - you had to have been really focused. Sounds like Dr. Fisher is a good doctor. I think I read that he was the doctor that actually got the Bariactic Program approved in Richmond. I too had never heard of the sleeve until I talked to my general physician and she mentioned the sleeve. I immediatley went home and researched the sleeve and th gastic bypass. It's amazing how much information is out there on the sleeve now. Thinks for letting me klnow about the nicotine urine test. I gave up smoking ten years ago, but sounds like if they don't request the test, I may need to remind them. Sounds Sara was able to get you in pretty quick with the case manager, again the best of luck and let us know what your date is scheduled for.

Yep I'm moving to Cool, the way things are going it looks like I'll move in now mid November to early Dec. I'm really hoping for the surgery first so I can be off of work to recuperate and put the house together. (Two birds with one stone.)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
