Hello,

so here is where I am I have been to my seminars, got the approval from my Insurance, now in order for me to schedule my Surgery Date I must lose 10 pounds by Friday. I have started my Protein shakes but don't know if that will be enough to get the weight off. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Second I am 5'2 230 pounds can anyone with my similar stats tell me how their weight loss went (fast, slow, stalling)? I am getting closer to getting this done and while I have done lot's of research I still have many many questions.

Hi there,

Boy do I understand how you feel. I have surgery scheduled for Monday 8/16, started the all liquid phase of my pre-op diet. YUK! I found sugar-free banana popsicles and sugar-free black cherry Jello that is helping me make it through. Had the upper GI on Friday - more yuk! Became dehydrated and bound up. And trying to function? How do people work while on this? I'm stupid, not recalling converstations, not articulating clearly. :crying:

I lost 6 pounds in 5 days on the pre-op (with 1 small meal and on my period). If I can do it, you can!!! Well, actually I'm trying to do it....my surgeon said if I come in next Monday morning and not have a a significant weight loss, he's sending me home! Not sure what he defines as significant, but I know it's more than 6 pounds. LOL. Can you imagine coming all this way (8 months of jumping through hoops) and blowing it? If I could stay on a liquid diet I wouldn't need surgery, right?

Hanging tough!:)

Melinda

Starting BMI -45

surgery date 8/16/10

wow i don't know what to say. first i think it's stupid that they would ask you to lose that much weight in such a short amount of time. it's not even healthy. i mean, i understand, shrink the liver, shrink the liver, shrink the liver. but even a few pounds should help with that... imho anyway.

and to the other person who said the surgeon would send you home if you.... i suggest you remind him that your money doesn't HAVE to be spent with him. i mean some people just don't lose weight unless they starve... and you don't need to be starving. i mean, this is why you're having surgery after all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
