Approved by Dr. Aceves

Recommended Posts

Hi: Still pretty new here but all the info. here helped me make my decision for sleeve instead of band or bypass. Insurance won't pay for sleeve but after reading all the wonderful posts on Dr. Aceves and his credentials, I decided he is the one for me. I was approved yesterday. Only downer, we have to finance so I will have to wait until Jan. when my flex spending account is available again to at least not have to borrow that portion of the $$$. Maybe we'll win the lotto and I can get it earlier!!! Monica at Dr. Aceves' office is so nice to deal with. I feel at peace w/this decision. I saw a nutritionist today to try to help lower my cholesterol (I can't take the statin drugs and don't want to), and hopefully lose a little weight before Jan. Thanks guys for all you good advice! I feel like there is hope for me after all!

Hi there! I am in the exact same boat as you! I lurked here for a while (a LONGGGG while) until I made decision to go with Dr. Aceves. I have already been approved by him and like you said, everyone on his staff has been a joy to deal with. Not used to ppl at the Dr.'s office being so friendly or informative! I am hoping to get the funds together by Later September or October to be able to go through with the surgery. It's a mental struggle I am deal with right now. I am 100% convinced that I have made the right decision and now its just a $$$$ issue. I would have the surgery tomorrow if $ allowed but I just have to keep telling my self that "good things come to those who wait..Right??"(GRrrr) I wish you the best with getting the funds together as well and I look forward to hearing how things progress for you!

Hi Bon Bon: Appreciate your reply. Isn't it a shame that $$$ keeps us from what we want right now. I am excited for you and me both that we have made this decision. I hope things work out that you can have this in the Fall. Unfortunately, looks like I am stuck until Jan., but at least I have hope now . Good Luck in your journey and let me know when you will have surgery. Take Care!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
