July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hey Sherri I weigh the same as you do. Cool!!! I wish I had a grandchild but not until my daughter is ready. I wish I could babysit yours for you. How old is she? I hope you don't pass that stone when she is there. It might be scary for her. I hope things go fine for you and your granddaughter and you two have a wonderful time together.

She is 15 months old and runs circles around me. She is a little doll. Lots and lots and lots of energy. I've notice that all the picking her up is really not settling well with my lower back. I guess from my kidneys. She's finally learned to say Granny. It's soooooo sweet. My youngest son who is almost 20 is getting ready to get married July 7th and they want 4, oh lord. Did you get all of your cooking done? I fixed a bunch of Christmas goodies tonight and only eat one piece, I'm very proud of myself. Would you believe I got stuck today and it came up. It's a good thing I got that unfill. I've just got 1.6 cc's in a 4cc band. Man, it don't take much fill for me, that's for sure. lol.

She sounds precious. No I am not finished with the Cookies yet. I messed up last night and I have to redo them today. It pays to read the instructions and not try to make shortcuts especially when you have never made them before. They are called chocolate Peppermint pinwheels. They are hard to roll up. The first time they grew when they baked to the size of disc's. Hubby took them to work and they got eaten. I hope this batch turns out better. Then I have to bake 3 batches of pralines and I am making my mother some whoopies pies. (KInd of a chocolate cake/marshmellow type cake) So I am still busy with the baking. I ran out of some ingredients so when I get out tomorrow I am going to pick up some things so I can finish. I hope your time with your granddaughter is special. I bet she is spoiled. I know that if I had one it would be. Talk to you later. HUGS

Here she is, at 16 months old now and still weighs 18 pounds. Boy, she sure doesn't get that from me, lol. Would you believe I got up and weighed this morning and I have those digital W.W. scales and it said 211.9 and I about fainted. Took a shower and ate Breakfast, and after lunch it said 213. I think I'll forget weighing after that. LOL.

I'm just getting ready to go to my Card Club Christmas Party and I thought I'd pop in and say hello and catch up on what everyone's doing. I have been indulging the last two days at work. We had a pot luck. I started out good by having chicken wings on Tuesday, but this girl brought these Oreo ball things - OMG!! They were to die for and I had about 4 too many!! Then I had taco dip with wheat thins yesterday. I just sat by the pan and scooped away! Now I realize I can only eat so much, but I seem to be so hungry this week. Does this happen to any of you when your TOM is about to be here? Anyway, today I had little pop in your mouth sized Cookies and some veggies and dip and a piece of roast beef lunch meat. I could tell that my body didn't like all the sugar it had yesterday because I slept like crap and was up at 1:30am STARVING! That never happens! Tonight I'm going to a Pot Luck. I am going to make better choices and tomorrow everything is OFF LIMITS! I will have treats on Sunday and Monday and then it's back to the grindstone. I have not lost 88+ lbs for me to gain 10 back over Christmas! Okay - so I exaggerated - maybe not 10, but a good 3 or so I'm sure!

So, some of the issues you have brought up resinated with me...the thinking people will be watching me eat this weekend. I totally think that happens.

I see the lap band PA on the 28th and I don't know if I'm going to ask for another .5cc's or leave it alone. I'll have to wait and see what he says. I think as your insides shrink, the band's restriction changes even though the same amount of saline is in the band.

Well, I'm off - everyone have a great night!

Well my pinwheel Cookies turned out better than they did last time. I tasted one and they are not bad. I think I am cookied out. I am not goingto make anything else today because I don't have enough ingredients to. My hubby came home sick (although we think it is from one of his medicines) and is sleeping. He will proabably sleep all night so I am on my own again. I will be glad when he has some time off so I can see him. He just comes home from work and goes to sleep. I am going to try and find something on TV to watch tonight. I have to go take care of my sick cat. He won't come out from under the bed and I have to feed him under there and give him Water under there. I hope he hasn't done any business under there. Well I will be back after I get these cookies put up and feed the cat and see what is on the tube. TTYL

Hi All,

I just wanted to post and say that as of today I am down 50 pounds! 11 of these since my second fill 5 weeks ago.

But I do have some slightly bad news. I have had heartburn for 3 days. And I never get heartburn. It started after a small PB at lunch (the first in 3 weeks). The culprit...broccoli rabe. Since that night...wow...pain and an acid taste in my mouth. I have been on liquids since then and it just started to let up tonight. My doc said to stay on liquids for 3 days.

So that is the news with me...Hope all is well and have a Merry Christmas!

Wow Olive!! Congratulations!! I hope to join you in the next month as I'm now at 43.6! You may want to take some type of mylanta or something to help with heartburn if you haven't already. I took Gaviscon when I had my little tummy upset in October on recommendation from my doctor. (You may have already done this but wanted to share what my experience led to)

Okay, everyone else, let's be GOOD with our choices!! I've done better the past couple days and even saw a loss on the scale again which shocked me. We are on a journey with some twists and turns in the road and some bumps and some bad driving (that would be me). With the better "driving" I get closer to that goal!! We are doing this July group....I'm so proud of all of you and of myself. This was a wonderful "present" even though I had to spend $$$ on it!! We have the new year coming up with many of us reaching our goals or getting very close to reaching them!!! Can't wait for us to see our goal picture next to our start picture!!

Well the whoopie pies are made and they turned out pretty good. I made the first batch real big because I didn't know what I was doing. But the rest of them are much smaller. I hope my mom likes them. I have one more batch of Cookies to make and then to the pralines. I usually never cook this much at Christmas but my husband's family if coming her on Christmas eve for the evening and I want to have so goodies for them. I am very excited to have them this year. Then my daughter and her hubby will be here and I hope they are ready to eat because I will have lots of stuff for them too. I am still trying to coax my sick cat into taking his medicine but so far I haven't had any luck. I am going to try ice cream and if that doesn't work we are going to have to force it down him. Yuck. It is a mess because he is stubborn. Well I hope you all have a great weekend and a great Christmas. I will be around and will try to write back when I can. My computer is on the kitchen table and we will have to move it to eat. So I will write again when I can. Love you all. HUGS!!!!!

Yes Steph,

That time of month gives me nightmares. I can eat anything and everything and I've got to where I won't weigh that whole week or so.

Okay cookie making machine, enough already. Your going to turn into Martha Stewart. LOL.

Well, I don't know if it's good news or bad but I can tell my kidney stones have moved from way up at the top by my kidney to way low down in my bladder. It hurts sooooooo bad to pee now and it's killing me. I can hardly pee and there's blood in it and my lil brother said that means it is just right there so everyone pray that it will pass. I've got so much to pay that my insurance hasn't paid on my 2 hospital stays that I sure hope I don't have to have that surgery. That would be another 4 thousand I would have to pay after insurance and I just hope to say myself another stay I can pass it. I have several of those percocets left for pain so I'm going to drink, drink drink and hope it passes.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and has an extra special Christmas.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
