Keep that positive attitude Sherri. Things are going to be fine.

Well I am almost through with my shopping. I am excited this year because my daughter is spending Christmas with us this year. Last year we had her at Thanksgiving. My little kitten still has a cold. I am giving him medicine but he isn't feeling much better yet. He sleeps alot. I hope he gets better before Christmas. Well I will weigh in the morning so I will let you guys know if I lost anything. I am not counting on it but I might be surprized. Tomorrow I am also going to make some Cookies. My hubby and I started a tradition last year to make cookies for all our neighbors who live in our cul-de-sac. Plus I always make some for the mailman and my hairdresser plus some for two family get togethers. I have about 5 or 6 recipies that I got on the food network. So I will be busy the rest of the week. Next week I am going to make whoopie pies for my mom and aunt. Those are chocolate cream pies kind of. You can only get them up north and it was going to be very expensive to order them so I decided to make them instead. I hope they like them. Yes I will be tempted and I will probably give in a little but then I won't eat them at the family get togethers. Well I am off to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow. Hugs

Well Beth,

I hope for you a good weigh in tomorrow. Hope poor kitty gets to feeling better soon. You won't believe what I done tonight for the very first time since being banded. I lost it. I got really nervous, with this health stuff and why I just don't quit worrying is beyond me, then our son who is almost 19 has really been a handful lately and I won't even go into that but I just spazzed out. I started eating everything I could get my hands on. I even popped open a coke for the first time in 5 months. I have been like a drug addict or alcoholic that falls off the wagon. I'm sure I didn't do too much damage but that just shows that even though I'm losing weight, mentally I'm no better with weight control than I was before. I guess we all falter at one time or another and tonight was my night. Oh lord, I've got to do better tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Talk to all soon,

Guess what? I lost 5.5 pounds. I know!! I weighed three times to make sure the scales was right. It was!!! I guess it was the problems that I have been having with not eating so much. I have had my Protein and all but not much else. The cookie baking went well today. I only got 3 recipies done today and I have 3 more. I have to make a batch of pralines tonight for my hubby to take to work tomorrow. Then I have to make three more batches of pralines for Chirstmas presents next week plus one for my two family get togethers. What can I say! My pralines are the best. Well I am off to make the pralines (just one batch). I will check back in later on. Hugs

Beth what is your praline recipe? I might have to give that a try!! Does anyone have a really good frosting recipe for sugar Cookies? Im going to make them with my daughter this weekend. I havn't gotten to keep on the July thread this week! Great going Beth on the weight loss!! Sherri, I've fallen off the wagon a couple times too since banding and eaten some stuff I really shouldn't have too! We're human, at least we can pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get right back on the 'band' wagon. Hope you feel better soon. Happy holidays everybody.

Way to go Beth,

That rocks. I would fall over with a heartattack if I lost 5 pounds. Mine has come to a hault.

Thanks Karik, I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. I am also taking a high dose of prednisone and I swear I think it makes me want to eat. Cool, now I'm blaming it on my meds. I do need help.

Keep up the weight loss everybody and maybe mine will be back soon.

Sherri don't feel bad about blaming it on your meds. It is your meds. I had a kidney transplant almost 30 years ago and I have to take prednisone still. Granted I am not taking as much than I did back then but that is exactly how I gained all my weight in the first place. So yes yes yes prednisone causes you to be hungry and therefore eat more. Just hang in there and when you get off the meds you will lose again.

Praline Recipe

1 1/2 cups sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 teas. vanilla

3/4 stick butter

1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 cup pecans halved

Mix all ingredients together. Bring to a soft boil stage.

Take off heat and stir until it becomes thick (about 20 minutes)

Drop it on wax paper and let cool. Enjoy.

If you have any questions just let me know. I have made them for a long time now and it is very easy to do. The only part I don't like is the stirring and stirring. It seems like a long time but you need to get it cooled down so you can drop them without them running.

I don't know any icing recipes except store bought icing and mix a little peppermint extract or vanilla into it to make it better. It really depends on the kind of icing you get. We made them last year with the cookie cutters and everything and we have a good time decorating them. YOu could get white icing and put food coloring in it and make different colors on your Cookies. You could put the icing (colored) into baggies and cut a little hole in the corner and pipe it on the cookies. I bet you can figure out something fun to do. In the store they have gingerbread man cookies already made and all you have to do is cook them and then decorate them. That is fun too. Good luck on the cookies. I made 3 different cookies today. One was called monster cookies (because it mad 74 cookies), thumb print cookies with strawberry jam, and candy cane cookies. I have 3 more recipies to go. You can go to the Food Network on line to check out their recipies or you can go to allrecipies.com and find some good cookie recipies. I hope this helps anyone making cookies this year. Well I am off to bed. Hugs

One more thing before I go to bed. I learn alot of things on the Rachael Ray show which is my favorite. I learned that to keep your platis wrap from sticking together and not cooperating when you put it on your thing that you are wrapping you put it in the freezer. Yes that's right the freezer. Keep it in there always and when you need it it comes out perfect and easy to use. I thought that was cool. Just wanted to share it. Good night all.

By the way the pralines are yummy. I had to taste one.

Oh please send me a praline, I think I could eat that too. LOL. Thanks for the info Beth. I had no clue about the meds. After I read your post I looked it up on the internet and it's not all in my head. Now to just teach myself that's not an excuse to eat but I do believe I would have to have a praline.

Good night all.

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm alive and doing well! It's been a few weeks- so sorry about that! I got an upper respitory infection and was sick for a while...

Good news though... I am losing weight again after my second fill up to 2.5 in 4ccs! I can't eat nearly as much as I used to and I fill fuller for sooo much longer! I'm not sure how much weight because I've started my period for the first time in 3 years!!! ( I was on depo provera and it stopped it for the longest time. It took 9 freaking months to get it back after my last dose of the depo) I'm not gonna weigh myself til its over.

More good news... I got an exercise bike in my apartment now!!! I just don't feel like using it with the terrible cramps I'm having, so I'll start using it more soon.

I have to get going, but I wanted to say how happy I am to see how well everyone is doing. Don't get frustrated... I've found out that this is just gonna take a bit longer that I thought it would. But we are not GAINING. That is the most important part of this. Imagain how much you would have gained without the surgery and add that to your weight loss. It'll make it better! Goodnight, I'll talk more on here, I promise!

Good to hear from you Leona, I worry about you when we don't hear from you. I too was on the depo and that is when my weight loss started. I am glad to hear your off of it.

Guys I know there are some people on here who don't like for us to complain about our lives but I just needed some pick me up and to whine I guess. As you know I'm suffering to death with kidney stones. They just won't go away. When I was in the hospital those 5 days my husband spent maybe 30 min.s to one hour each evening at the hospital with me and would fall asleep and start snoring so loud I would have to wake him up. I have taken such wonderful care of my Mom with her cancer bout, cooked for her 7 days a week, kept the house clean. When my daughter gave birth to our first grandchild last year, I stayed the first 2 weeks with her and kept the baby with me at night so she could sleep. I didn't have one visitor while in the hospital those 5 days except for my husband's 30 min. daily visits and one visit from my daughter. Yes, it hurt my feelings. This morning I woke up at 5am hurting very bad and told my husband that I was really scared I had something worse like cancer because I was hurting soooo bad. He was on his way to work and said "will you shut up about the damn cancer, I've heard about cancer all I want too. Quit your crying and bellyaching and then left. I just sat down and cried. I know it's probably not cancer but my grandmother 4 years ago had a piece of kidney removed because of cancer then my Mom so naturally I'm just a little concerned. I guess I'm just a baby but I take such good care of everyone and I just don't feel like he should have been so nasty and then just walk out and leave. We've been married for 25 years but he just has NO compassion for me any more. Sorry to vent was just so hurt.

Sherri you sound like you need a big hug. HUG

I will be happy to send you some pralines. Send me your address. I am serious. Very serious. Please don't let your family upset you. Sometimes our families are the ones we hurt the most. Hang in there girlfriend. You are loved here and you can complain any time you need to. That is what true friends are for. To listen and care. You are in my prayers sweetheart. Don't worry be happy. Remember that you husband is just a man. (no offense Chris) and your daughter is just young (no offense to the young ones here). I care and love you and I know the others do too. Cheer up and send me your address. HUgs

Hey guys,

I'm backkkkkkk. After posting Thursday I starting hurting again and fell to my knees screaming in pain. I went back to the ER and they admitted me again, 2nd time in a month. I was trying to pass another stone. I was so worried it was more because the pain was so horriffic. I came so close to passing out. Friday they ran that test, I think it was called IQT or something like that. It is where they run the dye into you. They found the culprit. A big stone, too big to pass, about 6 mm. It has just left my kidney and stuck in that tube the uretha. They said it was lodged sideways. So praise God that's all that's wrong other than my kidney's enlarged and very distressed but they said it's because of the blockage. I see a specialist Thursday and they'll decide about taking it out. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers. I missed you guys so much.

Weird thing is they said that Protein is what was causing mine. Eating too much protein. That's just great for a bandster isn't it. lol

Well, just proud to be home and so far no pain. My luck it will start back up Christmas.

Love you all,

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
