July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

I walked, went bike riding, dang that little bitty bike seat was so far up my butt crack and now I'm sore from that and went 4 wheeler riding. O.T. a little bit, I had to life my dh air compressor and lift it up over the rails on his big tall pickem up truck and must have done something to my stomach muscle. It's so sore around the area of my port. Has anyone else done anything this stupid?

mysherrijo - I feel your pain!! I didn't even do anything stupid - I just sneezed too hard and I really feel like something tore around my port area. It's been hurting so badly since Thursday - especially when I move while sitting. From what I hear, it should feel better in about a week and we won't know if we did anything to the port until we get filled again. Let's just say I'm in no hurry for a fill right now - the pain is horrendous. I hope you feel better soon!

Desiree if your port is still hurting from your sneeze you should call your doctor tomorrow. It shouldn't hurt that long.

My little dog jumped up on my stomach this afternoon and it really hurt my port but it is better now. I think both of your pains should have gone away by now or will be soon. If not talk to your doctor.

I have had a wonderful day with my hubby. I think I learned how to deal with my irritation with him. I just ignore him until I am calm. We just had a great day together. We went to church and then out to eat and then we watched the football/baseball game together. It was really fun.

I hope everyone has a great week this week. I am very tired and am going to bed soon so I will say goodnight and God bless.

I had to work today and it's my 6th day in a row. I'm a makeup artist for Neiman Marcus and we're in our fall "Beauty Week" promotion. (more like "Beauty Hell Week"!!) My feet are sooo tired but I made myself go for a 45 minute walk tonight. Must admit I felt better. I hope that counts for the challenge.

I'm sorry to hear that some July Bandsters are having a few bad days. You know, we will all be getting more attention as the weight comes off. Maybe some significant others will realize that and pay a little more attention to their manners.

Sherri,

I agree with the others-I know you have already called but call again if you're not better today-tell them the pain is different than anything you have experienced and you would like to speak to the doctor or make an appt to be seen.

And tell them if they don't that I will drive over there from Tennessee and "speak" to them myself.(never tick a nurse off we are bitter, overworked, underappreciated and underpaid-a bad combo) Oh yeah and hungry...

Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry (or hungry)

Michelle- Tennesse huh? I knew I liked you (I am really a Georgia girl love-jacked to Jersey). I also like your pic.....green. Nice color. Today sucked for me but I will not dwell on it because I will become crazed like the far right side of the pic. All I (or anyone) can do is pray and hope for a better tomorrow.

Got my teal colored wrist band in the mail today (like the yellow Lance Armstrong bands) from Iamed (or however you spell their name- the company that makes our lap-bands) and it is pretty cool. Says "I'm with the band". They are free.

Here's to a good Tuesday.

Beth...I will look up the person's e-mail for you from the lap-band company. I wasn't ignoring you....it's after 11 PM here and we just got home from a stint at ER (DH's vision was blurry and with someone who has had a stroke you don't ignore blurred vision...he's okay as far as we know....gonna follow up with retina specialist). I promise to find it for you though!!!!

I just hit 75 pounds, only 39 to go :(

I just started going to the rec. center here at UIdaho, it's pretty kickass. Now I have a place to work out three times a week instead of going to a personal trainer.

Hope you don't mind me joining in. I was banded July 10th in Belgium by Dr Marc Fouquet. I live in the uk.

Just had first fill, 9th September, although have no restriction as yet. Have another fill booked for 14th October so fingers crossed for that one.

Am trying as hard as I can to stay on the straight and narrow, especially as I can eat as much as I could pre-op and have lost 30lb so far which i am thrilled with.

Luck and best wishes to all

Laura x

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
