12 days out & loving it

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on the 12th, I had quite a bit of discomfort and paranoia in the beginning, but reading all the posts helped me through. Now I am finally starting to feel great!! I have lost almost 30 pounds!! I was super excited to start eating real foods, and am loving some of the weirdest combinations, like eggs and cottage cheese, or refried Beans and greek yogurt! I think my taste buds have changed, and I do crave off the wall stuff, like ripe tomatoes and cherry limades!!

Walking has gotten better too. It was taking me 15 minutes to walk 3 blocks after surgery, and now that's nothing. I just have to say this is the greatest thing ever!! I love that I get full after a couple of bites, and I can't wait till the pounds dissappear!

Also I don't have a support group in my area, so this website has definately been my savior. Love to all my sleeve friends!! Couldn't have done it without you!!!!

Awsome weight loss. I use this forum as my support group as well. Most everyone is very supportive, and even those who aren't, are trying to do the best thing for you. It's pretty great. Welcome to the losers bench.

wow...your post op plan progresses you pretty quickly to soft foods, huh?

I'm almost 4 weeks out and have just started being able to have those things.

I was so happy to get to that point too.

Sounds like you are doing great...congrats!

Fantastic result - Well done.

I'm also using this as a support group - and with surgery in just over 2 weeks time I think I will need it! LOL!!

I'm getting used to the walking now, so it'll come as second nature post op. Keep up the good work

Kathy

Firstly, thanks for your super positive post! It's awesome to read! I am 4 days out. Really looking forward to the soft foods stage of the egg beaters, refried Beans etc, which I am allowed to start after Wednesday if I can tolerate it. I will probably like some of the same things you are liking  I am already noticing that each day I feel a little better, can get more liquids down, can walk better. I was able to walk for 35 mins today and it's only day 4! Whoo hoo!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
