Gone for Good Club - June 2006

Recommended Posts

Funny, I am glad you made it through the weekend. Mothers can be stressful. ALso, what kind of new diet are you starting? You are already doing so well.

It is the sacred heart hospital diet. They use it for MO patients who are going to go into surgery. It supposedly is a very fast weight loss, lowers cholesterol, and shrinks the liver. You are supposed to lose 10-17 pounds a week on it, and that is not Water weight. That is week after week you continue to lose that weight, as long as you don't cheat. :) So I am gonna do it. I posted the diet in the food forum, and will be updating it daily to let everyone know how I am doin on it. It is getting a lot of interest. Check it out and come and lose with me. :)

I watched the storm last night and really tried to relax. It helped a lot. I am gonna do some extra pilates and try to get my mind centered again, and then dive into work. that always help me to take my mind off of things.

Can life get any better??? Girls, I am on cloud 9!!! I weighed this morning... (thought it was Wednesday when I woke up.) Well that beautiful scale that I LOVE so much told me I was 244!!! Only 5 pounds from the 230's and only 15 pounds from 100lbs lost since my surgery!!!

I thought I posted this.. but I can't remember...

Went and tried on bridesmaid dresses Saturday... well last year at this time I had to get a size 26 from David's Bridal... drum roll puhlease... the size 18 fit beautifully... but I ordered a 16 since the wedding is 3 months away and I have no doubts that I will fit into it by Sept. 30th. I am posting a pic of it for you guys to see!

When it comes in and I can fit into it... I will post a picture later also, of ME in it! :)

If you can't tell, I am SO in love with my band!

Heather, what a lovely wedding gown. Size 16 does sound -- and feel -- so much better than size 26. Congrats on all your achievements!!

Amy, I'm going to look into that diet, not sure right now, with life being super busy and crazy if I will want to try taking it on, but we will see. I need something to help me right now. Thanks for the info!

Hey guys! I'm back from Padre Island and we had a great time! I think I gained a few pounds since they took all my fill out last week during my ER scare. But at least I've convinced the doc to put some of the fill back in tomorrow 'cuz I'm starving all the time!!

Amy, that diet sounds pretty neat! The Soup recipe actually sounds good. I think I'll try it. I never could do the cabbage soup one because I HATE boiled cabbage! Thanks for sharing!!

Here's a pic of me in my SIZE 16 dress that I wore for the wedding!! Now if I could just get these arms to look buff!! :)

Hope everyone is having a great day!

HI! May I join this group???

Some of you know me by now. I was banded in 2003, lost 80 lbs in 7-8 months, had a major upheaval in my life for 2.5 years and I turned to food for comfort, regained 55 lbs, then got my head on straight and lost about 60 pounds since March.

So, I am down a total of 84 pounds as of today. I want to lose about 78 more, though I will probably go about 65 pounds more, then see a plastic surgeon for a body lift and boob reduction. That should take care of a few more pounds, at least! TMI??

My next mini-goal is to lose 16 pounds so I can say that I have lost 100 pounds! Hopefully, I can do that in the next 4-6 weeks!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
