I have to say this is one of the most entertaining threads I have read in awhile, most people just ask about alcohol! And then people go nuts answering either way! I don't judge either way, I drink alcohol and I know a lot of people think that is wrong!

I wish I had an answer for you!

My 2cents. It seems people on this board have mentioned that they still smoke cigarettes after surgery, so from that prospective it probably isn't any worse - from the smoke/inhaling side of things. Most people I know have been told to quit smoking for a time period prior to and after surgery to aid in healing.

As for adding it to recipes???? Don't use the recipe that the coffee shops use in Amsterdam. Their chocolate cake tastes horrible. LOL

Fab - I would agree that alcohol is probably harder on your stomach .... especially after my personal experience last weekend : ( oops! I thought I could drink one entire margarita. Nope. My limit is about half.

well, wine is supposed to help with digestion and beer is said to be good for lactating moms.

I suppose moderation is the key! :wink1:

very good point! and likely more frustration as anything since a sleever probably can't eat enough to even satisfy the munchies!

I know that my appetite has not gone away entirely post op and I am really careful to avoid caffeine because it stimulates the little appetite I already have and with such a small tummy its uber frustrating to be super hungry so on the hunger thing alone I wouldn't want to add something that made me more hungry. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their input! :)

Right now, I just want to fully give my attention to this surgery and the weight-loss, so I've put it down for now. June 30th is the date! Woohoo!

Well it is plant Fiber, if you eat it? But, I don't think that is what people mean by needing good plant Fiber. Of course, maybe that is what they mean, and it is some kind of secret drug lingo....LOL

You should avoid caffeine, so of course you should avoid mary jane, it makes you hungry.

Did you ever find out about the weed? I am curious to know how it has turned out for you as well..

Pete...from my observation experiences, you should buy a vaporizer and use it that way. It takes all the THC out of the plant and heats it up into the tube and you inhale it. No smoke what-so-ever!! Totally natural n much healthier than rolling a joint or packing a pipe.

FYI...my father has been ill for many years and this is how his doctor recommended he use it. So, you all don't think I'm a pro or something...lol...

However, I do agree that you probably shouldn't use it til ur at least at goal...even then, why risk it? You just might gain it all back....idk, just a thought

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
