I was sleeved by Dr. Edward Yacto at LH hospital. I received the best care ever. Thenurses were wonderful. You will be in excellent hands. Who is your surgeon?

Hi: thanks for responding. Dr. Roslin is my surgeon and if on the day of surgery they tell me it has to be Yatco or Shah I would be fine. My problem is the coordinator....she's really nice but I've called everyday this week trying to make sure they received everything...she finally spoke to me today, promised she would call me right back so I said I'll wait here for your call ...I won't leave the house...needless to say she never called back. I don't want to be a pain but I need to know that they are all set to present to my insurance which is one of the good insurance co. they cover the sleeve....who was you surgical coordinator....I hate to be complaining but I jumped through hoops to get everything done right away....now I can't get even an answer. How long ago did you get sleeved or rny? How are you feeling? I must say when I had the upper endo and when I'm at their office everyone is really nice.

Thank you for responding and hope you are doing well. Do you go to the support group meetings?

Hey Briikahouse: I got a call late yesterday that they were presenting my paperwork to insurance so that's good. As I said, they are very nice....but really busy....I'm going to try to make a meeting this month that Sharon runs. Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Hi! sorry i am just now getting back to you. They really are busy there. But i understand how you feel. I had do get really insistent with being informed of my status. that is the only issue I had with the office staff.

Once insurance approves, its going to move fairly quickly. documentation was submitted to my insurance at the end of February and by March 1st I was approved. I was also able to track, via my health insurance website the status of the authorization (I have HIP). The coordinators say that it can take up to 30 days for insurance to approve, but it may go faster depending on your provider. What insurance do you have?

don't worry...the weekends are crazy..I was afraid I seemed like a fat cry baby...I have Oxford United Healthcare which is very good about the VSG...Mary did finally call and said she submitted the papers without the letter from my GP stating the weights...so we'll see what happens....I said I would wait to hear from her but I'll call her this Friday...give her a week to hear back from insurance...

you are doing good with only being sleeved in March...how are you feeling?

I am feeling really good. lost almost 40lbs so far. more energy, knees dont hurt any more. I can climb stairs without getting winded. Clothes are starting to get really baggy and people are really starting to notice the loss. I have no complaints what so ever. having this surgery is the best thing i could have done for myself.

Okay Bklyn, so you basically got your approval in one day, right? I'm praying that mine is that fast so I can get started with my tests required by the surgeon. I have State Employee's United Healthcare, so maybe I'll hear something quickly. I think the office is submitting my request tomorrow. I checked today and they had all the required records and paperwork for my 6 month requirements. I feel like I'm going to pop with anticipation waiting for this surgery...

Great job on the weight loss TaRel!

Hi Mary: I started the process March 26...you know all the steps i.e. psyche eval, consult, upper endo....letter from GP (which took weeks for his office to do)....I know what you mean about feeling like you can pop with anticipation...I feel like my life has been on hold from March 26 until today(which really isn't that long in reality)....I hope things go well for you....it will be nice to get this done and on the road to good health....take care.

Bklyn Lady, that's really frickin fast! I thought my process flew by but yours is supper fast. You've done all that in less than a month?!? It took me three months from the day of the seminar which was on December 16th. I think the only reason it took that long was because it was around the holidays.

After medical clearance from your PCP, you will be on your way!! I am so excited for you!! You might get a surgery date at the end of the month.

Mary - thanks! Its been very easy so far. I know it wont always be easy but I am loving the journey so far. Good luck in getting your surgery date. the waiting is the hard part.

It seems like u have been doing really well since surgery. Is this like the bypass with restrictions on food that you will NEVER be able to eat again?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
