biotin/hair loss question

Recommended Posts

My doctor told me I could supplement with Biotin, however, I was not told a dosage. The pills I bought are 1000mcg each and the bottle says 1x daily. Is that what those of you who have tried it took? i notice that they are scored and could be easily broken in half, so did you take half each day, only half once a day, or all of it at once? I will probably follow up with my surgeon but i was just curious

The ones I bought are 5000 mcg, and the dosing is once daily. They are little capsules filled with a powder. I never really took them on a regularly basis. Kind of one of those things if I remembered, I took it, if I didn't, I didn't take it.

But, my nutritionist told me I could two daily if I really want to see any results. Again, I never really took them consistently.

Mine are 5,000 also and I take one a day. Maybe I'll try two a day and see if it makes any difference. Mine are capsules too and I got them at Walmart.< /strong>

Just a heads up, although I am STILL preop this may not matter at all to you. Biotin is kinda known to mess with people's skin, lots of my friends and I take it simply because we all do hair and it can help promote healthy hair. My friends used to take like 5 1000 mcg pills a day, at the time he couldnt find 5000 mcgs. It really messed with his skin. On the other hand I take 2 5000 mcgs capsules a day and so far my skin is the same. I think it has something to do with the filler in the pills.

Hmmm well my doctor still hasn't called me back. I've been taking it everyday anyways, I see that a lot are 5000 so my measly 1000 shouldn't be too much, which was more of what I was concerned about. Mine are flat little pills that I bought from target. So far no skin problems, but thanks for the heads up so I know what to discontinue if it starts!! Thanks for the responses everyone!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
