Feb 1st, for a sleeving good time

Thanks to all you great "Sleevers". I visited Dr. Alvarez Monday and confirmed my Sleeve date for February 1st. The thing I dread most is he requires me to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks. I understand why, but for a food addict I think it is going to be tough.

Anyone have any suggestions what a food addict can do to make it through.

Hey "Sleeve Twin", I am down 21lbs, BMI is now 40.5 from 43.5. I am excited and nervous, mostly excited. Tried on my compression garment, packing my bags..

Are you ready to rock?

I'm down 3 lbs, so that's good I guess. Fell off the "low fat, high protein" diet a couple of times this week, but nothing too crazy to stop me from losin those 3 lbs. LOL.:cool0:

You are KICKIN BUTT! Nice work! I don't have the compression garment, but I do know what you're talking about... They put it on us at the hospital.

I bought a new suitcase, as the bag I had wasn't in good shape. Have started to pack, will finish it tonight. As I type this, I'm starting to feel nervous... Thinking I won't sleep much tonight or tomorrow night. AH!

Are you ready to go? What are you taking with you? My doc sends a list of things that might be good to have... heat pad, gas X, etc. All that stuff is packed, I just have to get PJ's and such all ready to go...

Can't wait!

Lets see, bringing my swim trunks, tennis racquet,, oh wait,, that is another trip.. I am bringing personal hygiene stuff, gas X, bathrobe, slippers, underwear (without the racing stripes), my iPod with a couple new movies loaded, a book, bottled water, a protein bullet (which I hate), chapstick, C-PAP machine, all my current medications, pill spliter and passport. Also, some clean clothes to wear on the drive home. About 365miles, so not bad. My kitchen is stocked with post op food for when I get back.

Loser: sounds like you are doing great on your preopdiet. Your liver should be nicely shrunk, making for a much safer surgery.

Are you driving yourself home? Be sure you stop every 45-60 minutes and walk around some, to prevent blood clots during the drive. Best of luck to you. Let us know how you are doing.

I'm seeing Alvarez on 2/15 - along with my mother/sleeve-sister. We've very nervous, mostly with the process - flying 4+ hrs to Texas, driving 3hours to Mexico, and crossing border next morning for surgery. Seems a bit barbaric, but we didn't feel comfortable with anyone local. The testimontials for Dr. A were very convicing. If anyone has advice insofar as what pain meds to bring home, antibiotics, etc. - I would be sure to ask in advance.

Please keep me posted on how you're doing!

Good Luck Loser. Hope all goes well with your surgery and recovery. I am also someone with a bit of a love for food, but ever since I found out I was having the surgery, I have lost my appetite LOL! I dunno if that is normal, but I do know it has helped keep the weight off. I eat small and frequent instead of large and not so frequent. Liquids will be tough too, but if we get the ok to chew gum shortly after surgery, I will A-OK

Rob

Coco, Dr Alvarez will give you some pain meds to take with you on your way home. I carried some liquid Tylenol but did not need it. Used the Supradol (pain meds) instead, and they worked great.

Good luck everyone, and keep us updated.

Thank you everyone for the support. I won't be taking my laptop, but will be back Wednesday evening and will post some post-op news.

Cajun, no I am not driving myself but will probably do the driving. Her driving would scare me more than the surgery. LOL..

Hi Sleeve-Twin,

Getting excited? I'm leaving tomorrow morning, 6am, and will be in Mexicali tomorrow afternoon. Scared, excited, all that! Will be with you in spirit as we go under and come back up as sleeve twins on Monday!

Here's to a safe and easy trip for you (and me!) xxoo :)

Loser & YouKnowIt -

Good luck on your surgeries tomorrow. Lot's of HUGS and PRAYERS headed your way. Give us all an update when you can.

Thanks so much! I'm in Mexicali now, at the hotel. Had pre-ops earlier today and head back to the hospital at 7am tomorrow morning. Please do keep me in your thoughts and prayers. This being my third abdominal surgery, I know this is a little riskier... I'm not as scared as I was the last times, but am starting to feel it coming on... Nervous. Hope I can sleep tonight, cause I sure didn't sleep last night. :001_rolleyes:

Will post again tomorrow from the sleeved side!

Good luck tomorrow, you're in good hands with Dr Aceves. We're waiting for you on the sleeved side.

Brenda

Your in my thoughts and prayers ...your in the hands of one of the best surgeons out there but more than that your in Gods hands. I can't wait to hear from you again.

Hi all!

Well, I'm finally able to connect to the internet so I wanted to give you all an update... Made it through surgery. Was a bit more difficult than a straight sleeve, due to my scarring from the previous band. I was under for about 2h 45m. Woke up feeling pretty good. Have been covering since than... didn't start drinking anything until yesterday, wherein I threw up each time, not too. Through up a couple time right after surgery too (later than night in my room). So, they are slowing me down on drinking and such, and I'm going to have to stay for an extra day. I'll be heading home Friday morning now, rather than tomorrow.

Feeling so much better today, really, only sore at the sight of the drain, and have a headache... Thanks to all for checking in on me. If I can get back online again tomorrow, I will update you again. Best to all!:smile::w00t:
