Thanks Carolyn and PNW it was a pretty good feeling to know I wouldn't have to ask for the extender any more when I fly. I still feel squished but it's not as bad now and will only get less squished as time goes by. Love my sleeve more everyday!!

I'm still very early on in the process but I had two NSV's today. Firstly, when I was walking this morning I looked down and what did I see? Or rather... NOT see? My tummy! It wasn't sticking out past my boobs! When I looked in the mirror later from the side I can see it does still stick out a bit past... but when I'm walking with good posture and whatnot, I can't see it. This is awesome because just 2 weeks ago I would look down and see it sticking out a good 3-4 inches.

The other thing is I have a pair of jean shorts I wore in my before pictures and they were very very tight when I wore them for those photos a little over 3 weeks ago. Today I put them on easily and comfortably, and I can even fit both hands in there because the waist is loose now. I wouldn't be able to wear a smaller size yet because it's still snug around my lower stomach, but I was just really happy to see how much looser they've gotten.

About six weeks after my surgery (2/5/10) Tiffykins put me on to a website called www.thinnerself.com. I started tracking there around 3/19. Anyway I started at a BMI of 40.1 which is considered "morbidly obese". By the time I found this website I was "severely obese". I have now passed up the next category which is "obese" and am now considered "overweight". Wow, I never thought I would be so glad to be "overweight" at a BMI of 29.6. That is 57 lbs lost in 4 months! That's not a record by a long shot, but for me, it is amazing. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

Thanks for that post. I went to the site and I too am only overweight! Not obese any more. YAAA! that is a great NSV. I just keep seeing how fat I am and how much I still have to loose. So, seeing that page gave me a healthy slap back to reality.

AND,even better still, according to that site~~ for my age and height I am NORMAL!!!!

I still wanna loose down to the medical ideal of 150 though. LOL I am gonna change my calculator to 150. That is only 32 lbs more, so I can do it. Not easy, but I can with my sleeve helper.

Well this weekend I had the chance to go to California on a mini vacation, it wasn't planned and I had to really throw things together, plan foods, but I went and I had a blast. We went to Universal Studios one day, I love theme parks, but in the past I am nervous about getting on rides in case my butt and hips are going to be too tight in there. I was fine! Also I used to get horrible pain in my feet if I walked any real distance and I walked tons, my feet didn't hurt, I wasn't out of breath, I wasn't all sweaty. I ended up having a great time. It was also nice to have my vacation not be entirely about what we'd be eating next. I enjoyed what I ate, but more so I enjoyed spending time with the man I love and making new memories with him. I still have a long ways to go and so much to learn, but this journey is already worth it.

I gotta tell ya....... it's been a while since I've had a NSV, or I have taken them for grated.

I'm 1 year and 4 months out, so they have not come as quickly as they did in the beginning.

But I had a few happen this week......

1- I went to go pay my lawn person, and I saw his wife... and she just kept going on how "good I looked" and asked what size I was. well....... the last pair of pants I bought were a 14 ...

She said OMG..... no way... I figured you to be a 7

You are SKINNNY...... tall and skinny!!

(That was great and I thanked her for the compliment) and of course she threw in there that I didn't need to lose any more weight.

2- My boss asked me how much I weighed before surgery... another guy was in there and said...... you don;t ever ask a woman her weight or age!! lol

But I answered him......my highest weight was 374

(Shocking for me to even tell him to be honest with you all )

I asked him...... before I tell you what I weigh now..how much do you think I weigh?

His answer was............................135!!!

I told him I loveed him!!! LOL

I weigh 173......... he said you sure don't look like you weigh that much at all!

3- Now one I can "measure"

I went shopping yesterday...... spur of the moment type of shopping... but I wantd a new pair of Jeans..... and............ I am in a 12-but could fit a size 10!!! LEVI's!!!!! I bought the 12... but after wearing them they are too big......... I should have gotten the 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't been in a 10............ ever in my adult life!!! A FRIGGEN SIZE 10!!!!!!!!!!!

woooooo hooooooo!!WOOT WOOT!!!!

MAJOR victory for me!

< Happy dance> Yeaaaaaah for MEEEEEEEE!!

carolyn you are tooooooo sweet and kind!!

( Love you lots for it!!)

I'm at a "stall" have been for months... just not posted about it because I feel soooooo wonderful even if I have not made "goal" yet. I am not fretting getting to 160. I never dreamed I would be at the weight I am!!

From 374 pounds........ to 173 I can live with it just fine!!

I do want plastics BADLY... a lower body lift.. but am having problems with my back and might have to have surgery......... so it might have to wait till next year because I can only miss 12 weeks at my job or lose my position.

I know if I had the tummy gone......... I could be an 8!!! CRAZY STUFF!! LOL

but I'm ok with the stall and the belly......because I feel fantastic!!! :lol0:

I loved reading this thread. It is so encouraging.

Even though I just learned what a NSV is, I had a great one this week. (My surgery date was 3/16/10 and am down 42 lbs)

The last time I saw my cardiologist was in November to talk with him about the sleeve and get cleared for surgery. He totally supported the idea, but I could tell he did not think I would follow through. He was so pleased when I saw him the other day. After telling me that I need to stop one of my meds because my blood pressure was too low, he told me that "MY HEART WAS HAPPY"!!!!

I love my sleeve!:willy_nilly:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
