Anyone traveling to Mexicali at end of the month?

My surgery is with Dr. Aceves on Sept. 30, so will be getting there the 29th, sure would be nice to meet up with others from the boards if they are having surgery on or around same time as I am. Thanks!

Hi Lizzy and welcome to the forum - you might want to check out the September Sleevesters and see if anyone has posted in there about having their surgery in Mexicali with Dr. Aceves. YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM AND HIS STAFF - YOU WILL BE IN GREAT HANDS!

Thanks for the tip, I found one gal who is having surgery with Aceves the day I fly in, hopefully we can meet! Thanks also for the encouragement about Aceves, I have heard nothing but great things about him and staff!

Hello Lizzy,

I am still having my surgery on Oct 1st. 30 days to go. Ya-Hoo!

See you there.

Glad you two hooked up. I will be going

around 10-12. I am excited to see everyone again.

Hi Lizzy!

I'm traveling there on the 28th for my VSG on the 29th! I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck to you, hopefully we will be able to meet up and support one another in person the few days post op :confused1:

Trudy

Hi Trudy, Good luck with your surgery. Maybe I will get to meet you on the 30th when I have my pre-op tests.

Hi Ky.hen!

I look forward to it! I do my pre-op testing on Lizzy's VSG day then you come in on mine....we're gonna have to meet up if possible - we're all going to be in "different stages" of recovery! I can't wait!!!

Trudy, I am happy you will be there also, you, me and Ky.hen, I am sure we will cross paths in the hallways. I feel comforted that you will both be there when I am!

Hey guys- Almater Hospital doesn't have the same HIPAA requirements as we do in the US so when you get to your room before surgery, just ask one of the nurses What room is Trudy in? They'll tell you -- that or just look at the patient charts on the desk, they have the names on the outside. The unit you will be on is all Dr Aceves (unless they have an emergency and that's the only rooms available) and it's only about 6-8 rooms so trust me if you want to find one another, you will, it's a very small unit. It's so cool you'll all be there together - special bond - Ruthi, Eyfura and I all had our surgery the same time and Bearded, SoontobeSkinny and Rosey all had theirs at the same time too. It's nice to "know" someone else while you're there.

Congrats to all of you:thumbup:

Thanks for letting us know how easy it will be to find one another while in Mexicali. Lizzy and Ky.hen get ready for some company :glare:. I am going by myself, are either of you traveling with someone? The more the merrier! I can't wait...have you guys started counting down yet?

Hey ladies, how are you feeling today? I will be traveling with hubby. I am getting so excited. I can't wait to meet you both. We can visit as much as we can while we are there.

Are you packed yet? Have you got your stuff ready for when you get home?

I feel just like I'm nesting. lol You know when you are pregnant and you are getting ready for your new baby. Judy

I can't wait to meet you both! I am both excited:biggrin0: and scared $#@&less!:glare: Having lots of anxiety. I have not packed anything yet,but have been thinking of a few things. What are you girls packing? Are you taking your own pj's? Or will you change into clothes a day or so after surgery? Heating pad and gas X is first on my list and someone suggested bringing along those little seasoning packets from ramen noodles to make a soup out of on the airplane. I know Ky.hen and I are coming from kinda the same area, Trudy, where are you coming from? My husband is coming with me.

Oh and Lizzy is my "stage name" but you gals can call me Mari, that's Mary with an i.

Ok, so far I have packed

pass-ports and birth cert.

2 pair pj's

1 robe

2 comfy outfits

2 pairs of shoes and flip-flops

2chap-sticks

gas-x

heating pad

curling iron

personal items

pillow

my prep. meds for a week only

copy of my last blood test for comparison

camera

book

gum

and anything else I think I might need.

I don't have a lap-top to take.

Ok, so far I have packed

pass-ports and birth cert. Judy I wouldn't bring your birth certifcate if you have your passport - too easy for identity theft with both items and you don't need the birth certificate

2 pair pj's - one pair is probably enough as the first day or two you'll want to stay in the hospital gowns; unless you wear a new pair each day.

1 robe

2 comfy outfits

2 pairs of shoes and flip-flops

2chap-sticks

gas-x

heating pad - definitely helps with the gas pains from the CO2!

curling Iron

personal items

pillow -DEFINITELY! The ones the hospital has are small and plastic feeling.

my prep. meds for a week only

copy of my last blood test for comparison

camera

book

gum - Don't let Dr. Campos catch you chewing it after surgery!

and anything else I think I might need.

I don't have a lap-top to take.

Remember - less is more - you don't want your suitcase to be too heavy, especially going home. Of course, it will be much lighter after you drop those jars of sweet pickles off in Las Vegas!
