Me too!!! Our date is coming up quickly!!

I just spent $50 for my pedicure so I'm not removing the toe polish OR acrylic nails. They'll just have to work around that. Doctors who ask for that are looking to see how your nails look --which is rather old school to me.

I'm August 11th. Had my pre-op testing today, and got all of my literature. My doc only requires 2 days of liquids pre-op, so I don't start that until Sunday. He also requires twice daily bathing/showering with Dial soap for 2 days prior to surgery. Yeowch! Can you say "dry skin"? Anyone else have that requirement.

Well that's the first I've heard of that -- they do have an antibacterial foam soap that is really good, though, and doesn't seem to dry out the skin - that is what I used on my incisions following surgery.

I didnt' have to take my acrylic nails off; however, I did have to have all fingernail polish removed. My understanding on that is that the anethesiologist needs to see under your fingernails for some reason.

I have toe rings that don't come off -- when I was back in my room after surgery/recovery, I found that they had taped over them with surgical tape -- I forget what the reason for that was.

They told me the reason for the acryllic nails to be removed is because of the little finger thing they use to monitor your O2 level. I had my surgery at a military hospital, so it may be a little old school, but it's procedure so it has to be followed. My toenails are so stained from years of polish that it wouldn't of helped them at all.

I don't have to do twice a day but for one week. I have to remove my acrylic nailes (ouchie) and toe nail polish too.

My nails are not long, but they have acrylic over-laid on top. I don't wear polish; the color is in the acrylic. I have polish on my toes, but I've had surgery before and no one has requested acrylics or polish be removed. I take that back, years and years ago they did ask for that, but not in the last 15 years.

My surgery is at a military hospital too but I had surgery a year ago at a private hospital and they wanted the nails and toe nail polish off too. I whined to my surgeon and he just said "I want to make sure your heart is beating and you have enough oxygen, is that a problem for you?:glare: Your life is the most important thing to me at that moment, not the latest fad in nail color."

Me: "Err, No problem here" :blushing:

This time I didn't bother arguing. The nails are already half off. The part by your cuticle is the hardest to get off.

Edit: Oh and taking your toe nail polish off helps them make sure you are getting circulation to your feets!

Well my surgery is in Mexico (Dr. Aceves) so I don't know their requirements, but I'm sure others will let me know.

Someone is having surgery today and I can't find who it is. I have been looking. I wish I would have made a note. I am positive someone said Aug 7th.

I didn't have to take off my nails - but I did just have them with clear polish - I'm sure if it's an issue, they will let you know, but changes are it won't be.

I'm August 17th too :-) I have a wedding to attend on the 28th, hopefullly I will be healed enough to have fun and of course slimmed down. I had a bit of a freak out today, have any others had some last minute "jitters", like ... I don't know if I should do this?

/ Yes, dear, and I'm leaving here tomorrow to go down there, so YEAH, there have been some last minute "What the heck am I about to do?!!" moments. I'm trying to put those feelings in a box and leave the box at home, know what I mean?:scared0:
