I think something is wrong! I am 1 month post op and I can still eat. Right after surgery I couldn't eat that much but now I can eat more, was my band filled during surgery or do I have to wait until my first fill?

my dr and his nurse told me he does not put any saline in the band, but it already has some usually around 2-3 cc's. However, the surgery makes the site swollen and the band it still there but usually not acting as restrictive as it would be. you should call your surgeons office..they will tell you if they filled the band as some do. deb

You should be able and should always be able to eat. That shouldn't change if it does, you're too tight.

The band's job isn't to force you to eat band sized portions- that's your job. It's not to physically stop you from eating. That band is there to keep you satisfied on much less food for longer periods of time.

Have a look at this link: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

mis is right, after surgery you are very swollen so little amounts of fluid/soft foods fill you up

as the sweling subsides,it easier to eat...the purpose of the band, in my opinion, is to

help you eat less.....not let you not eat..that is the wrong way to go...some people though

keep it soo tight they cant eat or hardly drink so they (can) lose weight...that, again in my opinion, a disaster in the making

read missys link she provided........it makes alot of sense

and just because you can eat (more than your alotted dr advised amount) does not mean you should

I had surgery in 2/13 and after liquid and mushie weeks I started slowly and was able to eat anything as long as it was proper bite size and portion. Started out with 2cc at surgery, 6 weeks later added 2cc, then 10 weeks later .5 and then 6 weeks after that .5cc. I am now in green zone eating anything and losing slowly but with no problem except for the two I caused myself. One time I got stuck with a piece of meat I did not cut small enough or chew enough. No sooner swallowed and said OOPS! Then I had a slimming incident last week when I ate when my mind was hungry and not my stomach. All I can say about that is ICKY! Live and learn one day at a time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
