Cathy you have lost 52 pds.? That is incredable what is your secret? I was banded on 6/7/06 and have barely lost 30....I'm very impressed. I need to get a grip.

Melissa

You've made a good point. Sometimes weather change can play a role in how hungry, etc. we are

It also could be all the food hype surrounding Tgiving. Holiday stress can work on anyone.

I have a food question. Are apple peals a no-no. I love apples (the granny smith are too pulpy for me),especially golden delicious. I usually eat part of the skins and feel guilty. Veggie question too. Many seem to be able to eat the new oriental cabbage, ramen noodle salad. Should we be eating anything so fibrous. I know brocolli is off limits. How can we know a potential threat?

I personally cannot even think of eating apple peels. I usually just peel them first. If you are already eating the peels I can't see why you should stop. Or maybe there is something I don't know.

Carol,

There's no secret. I was lucky, and had some restriction just from the band. Other than that, I exercise way too little, and follow the bandster eating rules about 90% of the time. Plus, I have all of you guys to inspire and advise me!

Pinky-- I eat brocolli, cabbage --well lets just say a lot of fresh fruits and veggies all the time. Some I have to chew more than others. I say give it a shot. If it goes down ok then eat it. If it doesn't go down well, then cook it more or peel it. I've had absolutly no problems with veggies etc. Thank goodness because I love them. I'm not a big "meat" person (no pun intended).

I can't remember who, but one of the moderators lost their band over too much brocolli several years back. We were cautioned against fibrous veggies, esp brocolli and asparagus.

Is it possible to "get things down" and still have a problem?

Pinky- I PB'd on an apple and I have no fill! I chewed and chewed but that darn peel came right back up. I peel my apples now. It kinda sucks cuz I've always heard there is more nutrients in the skin/peel and I've never peeled my apples, potatoes, cucumbers, etc.

Avilla,

I'm no expert, but try using the "edit" button at the top of your screen and highlight and cut out the blank spaces.

If that doesn't work, PM a moderator.

Maybe I'm living in dreamland, but I'm hoping to get to goal, go on a maintenance diet, and go for a gradual unfill. Once at goal weight perhaps our bands won't be very restrictive and we will be able to enjoy more unsoluable Fiber. I hope I'm always a little restricted, but it would be nice to eat popcorn or more than a few bites of corn. I know some people eat these things, but I'm too scared. This afternoon I was too hungry and that was my last apple.

Well yesterday I ate everything in sight! I was truly hoping this fill was the magic one that would of continued to work. Wrong! So guess I'll see what happens today, but I know the produre by now since this next fill will be my 5th.

I can't understand this band and whenever I seem to start needing a fill it seems like that is when the weight starts back.

I would love to have some rhyme or reason to this band. Just when you think you know what's going on, poof it will trick you again.:faint:

I can eat lots as well since my last fill. Since I'm going for such small fills this may take me a while until I get restriction. I was going to wait until after Thanksgiving, but I'm really considering going before. We aren't having company or cooking, so why not. I can still make with relative ease my DH a turkey dinner. I just want to get this going and the last fill isn't doing it.

I've read that we need to be careful with hard fibers like asparagus. I've just eliminated it from my diet. I eat brocolli flowers, but not any part of the stalk. I wouldn't try apple skin either as that would hurt if it got stuck. Same for potato peels. I tried one kernel of popcorn once and got so scared that it wasn't worth it. I can eat a hard pretzel and get the same effect and know that I can chew it to pulp. :peep:

I do think the weather changes the band, just like flying. I feel the effects in my bones when it rains, when the weather changes, etc. so why not my band?

There's got to be a nice middle ground between restriction and too much with pain. We shouldn't be PBing at all if we are at the right restriction and eating slowly and chewing. I too want to get to goal and then have mild restriction. I want this band to last the rest of my life and not give me problems. :)

Have a great day everyone.

It's a windy day here in Texas and in many places across the U.S.

I'm afraid I won't have a hair left on my head if I don't wear a hat.

WHEN IS THE Hair loss GOING TO END? ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
