June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Wow Christa --3 cc's is a lot for a 4 cc band. I had my first fill today under fluoroscopy (yipppeeeeee :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: ). I started with 1.5 cc (4 cc band) --but the barium just sat there, would not go through. Then they took out .3 cc and the barium went through very, very slow. They took out .1 cc just to be on the safe side incase there is swelling. So I guess I should just say, I got a 1.1 cc fill :( .

I've got to say guys I'm hungry. Maybe I made a mistake and should have let her be aggressive with that fill. Two more days on liquids and then mushies. If I don't start getting some restriction on mushies I'm calling for a fill. I need to get restriction. I'm going crazy with real hunger, not head hunger. Liquids are not filling me up.

I had my fill on monday (1.0 in a 4.0 cc band) and I too am hungry. I called my MD and made an appointment for another fill on the 25th. By that point I'll either be happy to get the fill, or it will have kicked in and I'll just cancel..

Had my first fill on Tuesday, and ate the same amount of liquids and mushies. Thought for sure I was not restricted.

Then I started solids today. Literally quite full with 1/4 cup of chili. Just ate a Jello pudding cup to take my meds, and I'm miserable.

My advice is to wait until you are on solids before you give up on your fill.

Barbara:

I plan to buy some of the higher calorie "box" Soups (I think they are Campbell's select), but they are a cream Soup with more calories. I do not like "sloshing" around trying to get enough fluids in me to fill me up. I don't want to gain, but the thought of constant hunger for the next four days is makin' me crazy!

Hang in there! You've made it this far.

Sandra

PS If you like egg drop Soup, the recipe under food posts is pretty good

I am having a hard time finding a Protein shake that I like the flavor. Any suggestions would be helpful because I am only getting about 14 grams of Protein a day. I want to lose weight and not my hair.

I love 20 grams of proteni lo-carb slim fast (not the Optima). The chocolate is really rich and creamy.

Yes under fluro. I'm going on to thicker Soups. I like the Campbell's select and I'll make some potato Soup and mush it up real well. If on Tuesday, when I start solids, I am still hungry and able to eat, I'll call for another fill. I weighed today and lost 3 lbs. I'll see if that continues or was a "false" reading.

I have two stiches still in two scars and they are driving me crazy. One in particular hurts and stings when I move a certain way. Hopefully they will drop off soon.

I'm ready to get on with this and start dropping some lbs. Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while so thought I had better take a few minutes and say a few words. I am doing great. my scars are healing nicely and all the steri-strips and sticky goop is gone. Mr Dr didn't do stitches. They "super glued" them. I am putting Vit E oil on them everyday just to help. I have been on solids for over a week now (although I wasn't supposed to until yesterday). All my hunger is in my head. I have no restriction though and I have to wait until the middle of August for a fill. So I do the Atkins diet with small portions, and try to drink LOTS of Water. I walk at least 5 days a week for about 40 mins each and try to keep as active as possible.

Thanks everyone for continuing to post. It sure helps to know how everyone is doing and that I'm not alone.

Have a super weekend and don't forget to exercise and drink water!!!

hello june bandsters!

today was my first day on "soft foods" and let me tell you it didnt' go over (down) too well at all. my surgeon had grits on the soft foods list, so i figured i would give it a try. i don't know if they were to thick or what, but they burned the back of my throat so badly when i swallowed. i didn't eat them too fast and no they weren't hot. but it was like this scratchy feeling whenever they were going down. so, i stopped half way through and didn't finish them. then my nose started running and i blew it a couple of times. then it was like this hard feeling in my chest that hurt like never before. then all of a sudden i spit up a whole bunch of thick saliva. i felt much better after that. i didn't vomit, because my stomach never felt like it moved and the grits never came back up. then i got in my car and drove to work. by the time i got to work, i had a build up of that thick saliva again. spit it up on the side of my car a couple of times. by the time i made it to my desk/office i couldn't make it to the trash can quick enough before i spit up a whole bunch more thick saliva. still no grits. now, it is all over (it has been a couple of hours) what was all of that. did i traumatize my band?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
