Banded july 5th and no fill yet!!

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a little frustrated I'm reading that everyone's getting fills and I haven't even had one yet! I expressed to the dr I'm feeling hungrier and I've slowed down on the losing and he's telling me its too soon.. I don't see him again until sept 24!! What do I do?? Should I find another dr?

Honestly, I would stick with him. You trusted him to operate on you so I'd trust him that there's a medical reason he's saying too soon for a fill.

If anything, ask him specifically why he says that. He might have a legitimate reason you're not aware of.

Best wishes.

At my first post-op appt today, my Doc said that for some patients, just having the band in is enough for patients to make the mental shift to making healthier choices. I'm 10 days post op and he told me to come back in 4 weeks to see where I'm at with the weight loss and he'll make the decision then to fill or not to fill. I'm not sure what to tell you, just hang in there and keep making good food choices and keep working out!! I"m only down less than 20 pounds and I'm already feeling so much better!

i was banded july 10th. I got my first fill on August 21st. He only added .5 cc's. it has made a difference though. I would ask why he isn't letting you have one just yet.

My doctor did not recommend a fill for 6-8 weeks after surgery to ensure that everything internally had healed. The band is placed and usually the stomach tissue is stitched around it to keep it in place. They like the band to settle into its new home before putting Fluid in which could shift it out of place and pull on the sutures.

Giving your body a chance to fully heal is not a bad thing and it will bring you over all long term success and that is what we want. Even though right now we want that instant gratification. That is not really the way the band works.

Try not to compare yourself with others, this is YOUR journey and they are on theirs.

Best of luck to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
