Go get 'em, Emma! You're gonna do great. I was scared to death myself, but strangely calm that day. It's over quickly and trust me it's worth it all. A couple cruddy days to follow naturally, but keep your pain meds ahead of the pain and you'll sail right through it. And of course we're all here to help. There are no stupid questions, ok? I expect to hear from you and am excited you're on board for the new life you've always wanted! This is your time to shine, it's your show. So raise the curtain and let's start our story. It'll be a great one! -Dave

Congratulations !!!

In a few short hours you will be in "Bandland".

Take it one day at a time... also you might find it helpful to have a heating pad to help with the left shoulder pain (if you have it). I found it VERY helpful. That was the only pain I had after surgery... mine lasted for three days.

Keep us posted.

Good! In fact since you're having some pain meds right now, I'll join you. I'm not hurting, but no one should have to drink alone. So once they kick in we'll have a coloring book contest and see who stays in between the lines best! :). Make it a great day. It only gets better from here, ok? -Dave

Struggling with pian at the mo!

The paracetamol the hospital sent me home with, is not even touching the pain.

What did they give you? What kind of pain are you in, gas or more severe than that? If its more severe and you can't contact them right now, try an urgent care but make sure they know you had a lap band. One thing is certain, it will get better, I promise. Just stick with it and ride it out as best you can until they give you something better. And keep us posted!

I had that same pain with my lap band surgery. What they gave you for pain amounts to regular aspirin! That won't cut it. They should have given you a narcotic for the first few days! I'd get on the phone and have them call in something much stronger!! The gas pain can be remedied with either gas x, a heating pad or best yet, lots of walking around. It really will help. For the non gas pain, call them or hit an emergency room for a quick dose until your doctor can get something stronger called in to the pharmacy. They gave me lots of liquid Vicodin. It saved my sorry butt! You'll thank me later. Please keep me posted. Now I'm worried and hurting for you! Poor thing.....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
