Creepy Crawly Esophagus

Recommended Posts

I recently had a fill and feel like I'm finally in the green zone, but I have this constant creepy crawly thing going on with my esophagus. I'm not "stuck", because I can get food down, but it feels like there's just a little something that always stays behind and moves up and down my throat. After awhile, it makes me nauseous. I've read about PBing, but don't know if you can do it on purpose.... can you? It is SOOO annoying. The food feels like it's stuck in my upper esophagus most of the time. I can't tell if it's been the same piece of food the whole time, or if the problem keeps happening. I THINK I'm chewing my food well..... but maybe not. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you tried drinking a full glass of Water quickly? Might "wash" down anything there. As for the PB. There's been a few times when I coughed and something came up. I've never actually burped.

I did! I know this is dangerous, but I even tried to drink a bunch of Water real quick and gag myself so the water would come up and wash it out. But the water went all the way into my stomach, and my stomach was unable to force the water back out past my band - which scares the bajeebas out of me if I were to ever really need to throw up. I have hacked, wretched, and coughed to no avail. :/

Thanks for the tip though!

You might just be irritated. Ever have a potato chip scratch on the way down? Maybe something kinda like that happened. Does your doctor allow any pain meds? What about warm liquids to soothe?

Just throwing out more ideas.

Definitely speak with your Dr, all we can do is guess.

But it sounds to me like you are either over filling yourself or eating to quickly.

Believe me, you can not force yourself to PB, it will do it itself whether you want it to or not ( like in a restaurant, lol)

PBing is when you're stuck and you have pain in your chest and begin sliming. You keep spitting to get rid of it and all of a sudden your body will build enough slime, that you either pb it up or it finally goes down. After you have an episode like that you want to be sure to do liquid Proteins or mushies for a few days, b/c it aggravates your stoma.

Give your Dr a call. They got big bucks to do the surgery, let them do their job.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
