Could I possibly never need a fill?

Recommended Posts

Just a curious question. Have my first fill August 12th so I can ask questions there, but thought I would see how many fills it took people to get to their green zone. I know everyone is different, but I feel like I have seen on the forum somewhere that someone had got to their goal with no fill. All the input you all can give would be great. Thanks.

There are a couple people who are losing with no fill (except what they put in during surgery). I think I've seen it more with those who had plication with their band than those who didnt. I'm losing currently without a fill but i'm hungry in between meals.

I've seen a few people that haven't needed a fill. i've seen some people only needing one small fill, and others that have their band totally full before hitting their green zone. i'm still not at what i could call my green zone (i currently have 5cc's in my 11cc band...5 fills @ 1cc each), but i can easily eat more than a cup of food, and i'm still getting hungry in between meals. i'm still losing weight, but i eat right, record every single thing i put in my mouth, and stay within my calories. I'd love to get to a point where i don't have to think so much about it.

In my humble experience, losing weight without a fill is like dieting before weight loss surgery, some are successful, and some are not. Even though I had plication after the fact, I still need fills to help control my eating.

I was banded 5/28 and have had 1 fill only. I had complications right after surgery with band being to full and all cc's were taken out. I've had 1 fill in July 1/2 cc in a 10 cc band. I'm losing and down 33 lbs. I eat small portions and sometimes get a little hungry but not to bad.

Yeah, I understand. I was just asking because I've not felt hungry but every 4 hours and everything is going don fine as long as I take small bites etc. I've yet to ask if he put anything in my band during surgery, which would make sense as to why I'm feeling the "restriction" (lack of a better word) I'm hoping to hear more come August 12th. Thanks so much for your opinion! :D

I did great with no fill! Except whatever was put in. I was losing and it was great. I got a full and I'm completely miserable and can't eat a thing. I hope he takes the fill out. I'm willing to work a little harder with less Fluid Jen to be totally miserable

Yeah I get what you mean. I have a feeling I may not need a fill. I still need to ask if he put anything in, which I assume he did but I will see what happens!! :D

Hi Cwal. I have not had any fills. I was banded mid January of this year, am down 78 lbs. and get hungry usually around 4 or 5 hours between meals. Band sized portions satisfy me almost all the time and the doctor does not feel that I need a fill nor do I. Believe me, if I was hungry and this was a real struggle, I'd get a fill or several fills as needed. If you are losing weight and not having an issue with hunger and overeating/grazing, you may be one of the lucky ones like me. Talk to the doctor but don't rush to get a fill if you really don't need one. Good luck next week and let us know what happens.

I has surgery June 6th and I am scheduled for my first fill Aug 13th. I have been losing about 1.5 pounds a week. I stay anywhere between 1100-1300 calories a day. WAY Less then what I use to consume in a day. I am enjoying the slow weight loss, it's helped me change up my eating habits. Instead of getting that enchilada dinner I have a salad with salsa dressing and it fills me up just fine. (I can only eat about a quarter of the salad. Lol) and I'm not hungry between meals. I know what full finally feels like and it's so awesome! Before it was like I didn't have a shut off valve, now I do. I know if I go past full (only done it 3 times) it's the worst pain and trust me you don't want to do it again! I eat slower and chew longer and I'm happier!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
