What time do you need to stop eating at night?

Recommended Posts

I had not had a good fill in a while and recently went and got anther fill. Prior to this fill I was able to have dinner about 8 pm and go to sleep by 11 with no problem. Since my last fill, I find that I need to have dinner by 6 or so in order to not have and issues at night. I feel like I still have food in my pouch if I eat later on when I go to sleep. I was thinking that if it gets too late to eat dinner, it would be best to have a shake. I am just curious when others fell they need to stop eating at night.

If I dare to eat after 6 pm, I'm in trouble. I guess it's a good reminder since I'm a reformed night snacker. I still get those urges but know better now.

What happens if you eat after 6pm? Do you feel like food is in your pouch still at night and have acid issues? I have been banded over 6 years and have never had this issue because I never had the restriction I have now.

I'm also curious to know what issues you had, when you ate something after 6pm.

I can have my meals at any time without issue

Yep, me too. I always have a snack around 8pm, and seem to be fine. Although, if I sleep on a full stomach, I wake up with (what feels like) a hangover. It's not band related; more from my body having to work so hard to digest food, while it's supposed to be resting and restoring.

Sorry I was slow to respond. If I eat after 6 (or say within 3 or 4 hours of laying down to sleep), I'll have reflux. I don't feel like it's band related, though, because it's always been an issue with me. I had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of banding which helped for a while. It's not something I'm too concerned about, because I shouldn't be eating at night anyway.

I can't eat after certain hours either. I can usually drink later than 8, but if I eat, it will cause coughing and some reflux of acid during the night. By the way, I have had 2 slips, and the lst one I had to have a revision to my band. I now have had to have a small amount removed, which took care of most reflux problems. Karen

One of the rules given to me by my clinic is to stop eating 3 hours before bed.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
