Hi everyone! I'm 14 days post op and finally got clearance to start mushy foods! I have only been having broth, water and my protein shakes so far and I have to say I have never been so nervous to start eating food in my life lol. What are some mushy foods any of you started with? Maybe you can give me some ideas? :-)

Hello all! Today I would like to share a triumph! I was able to get to my local gym and do the elliptical trainer for 35 minutes, burning over 600 calories. I could feel my endorphins rising, and my heart rate going up...all that good stuff.

Now, that being said, I'm NOT a fitness guru. Faaaaaaar from it. I hate exercise. It's a chore, but I'm doing my absolute best to readjust my attitude and embrace this new lifestyle. That said, I'm very unfamiliar with what can happen with your body after you become active after periods (long, in this case) of inactivity.

About five minutes after I stopped my workout and got to the car, I immediately felt the need to cough up some congestion in my chest. I was able to get some up, but I definitely feel like a lot of gross stuff (sorry if this is too graphic) was loosened after this workout. It makes sense? Right?

That's Awesome!!!!! and ya it makes sense that your body wants to get rid of the yuck stuff :) keep up the great work :)

Agree with sbeth on the coughing being normal - great job Maggie!

Aggiemaggie - I'm on my mushies now too. I've enjoyed: applesauce, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tuna fish, canned green beans, baked beans, and black beans so far. I chew the crap out of em and haven't had any issues so far. Good luck!

avviva1979 thank you! I didn't think of apple sauce or Greek yogurt! Something to lol forward too!!

Not a problem glad to set you mind at ease :) my appointment is the 31st. And at the moment I am hungry all the time can not wait till next week.

I'm hungry all the time too. i was thinking something was wrong. I had to advance to creamy soups, and cottage cheese. The liquids just weren't doing it!! yesterday i had baked cod from long john silvers. I do get full faster, but I get hungry also.

So excited! Had my first "meal" tonight and it was Delish!!!! 1/2 cup of part skim ricotta, marinara sauce, and a sprinkle of low fat mozzarella put it in the microwave for 1 minute!! Omg it was like heaven lol. Couldn't finish it all but was so happy that everything went down! It was nice to have something to eat with my family for dinner!

Banded w/plication on 7-18-2013

Banded w/plication on 7-18-2013

Just curious (and pardon my WLS ignorance) but what does "banded with plication" mean? And why is that offered?

My Nashville surgeon is participating in a study with Duke University, offering the plication along with Lap Band 1-band cannot slip 2- it makes a kind of like gastric sleeve.

It was voluntary for the 5 yr study kind of like getting a 2 for 1. Plus it speeds the weight loss

Plication is similar to the sleeve (it makes a banana shaped smaller stomach) but rather than cutting away the excess stomach they just stitch it up in a way that folds it in on itself. So it's reversible. I was intrigued by it but my surgeon doesn't perform it. I've seen some others here on LBT who have it with great results!
