Depends on the size of the pill. My daily meds are small enough that they don't cause me trouble, I use a gummie daily Vitamin, and for a couple of other supplements I use a pill crusher.

The one thing you don't want is a pill sitting in the stoma while it dissolves causing irritation. My Surgeon was of the opinion that this was a factor in erosion.

I've had the same experience as Terry. The other day I tried a large vitamin and even after breaking it in half, it hurt going down. I won't make that mistake again.

I keep mine about the size of a pea, if their not I break them up if it is ok with the pharmacist. I take liquid for all my Vitamins except Calcium that's chewable. I am concerned with them getting stuck.

I haven't had any issues will pills so far. My meds are small enough; one is a big capsule, but it slides right down. I do take a chewable Multivitamin, but one day I decided to try one of my pre-band multis. It went down fine, but it sat in my stomach & made me nauseous. I won't be doing THAT again!

While we're on the subject, can someone recommend a smaller size calcium tablet? Right now, I'm taking a cal/mag liquid, but I don't always have the stomach for it. I have the chocolate & carmel chews, but hate wasting calories on them. If there is a small calcium tablet out there, I would opt for that.

now that i am farther out, i take my walmart version of tylenol capsules when i need too but i also have it in liquid form......at night, when i need to sleep but got sammy hagar in my thoughts and cant sleep, i still crush my sleepy meds at night...seems to put me to sleep quicker...i say do what works for you.

If you take any other meds be sure to check with your druggist or physician if the tablets can be crushed or cut. One of mine was time released and could not be crushed so I had to switch to a different form.

CG - when you say that you have Sammy Hagar in your thoughts, is it the music looping in your head?? From time to time, I get this, where the chorus of a song loops in my brain all day and night long.....for days! The only way I can stop it, is to blast a different song. It doesn't stop the looping, but at least I get a brake from one song & switch it to another
