Nutritionist Rules - What did yours say?

Hello all,

I'm trying to get some nutrition tips because my weight loss has been EXTREMELY slow. I exercise regularly and I usually dont eat more than 1.5 cups of food for lunch and dinner with minimal snacking in between ...

I haven't had a one on one meeting with my office's NUT yet because getting to see her is like getting to see the Pope or something - very busy and you cant even talk to her directly ....

anyway, so rules she mentioned in our group glass (some that im having a hard time following) are:

1. eat 1000 cals a day or under

I found this online just now - I'll give it a try since I current eat 1100-1200 daily

http://www.fammed.usouthal.edu/Guides&JobAids/handouts/Metabolic/1000CalMealPlanningGuide.pdf

2. get at least 60-80g or Protein

3. only have 3 carb servings per day (only with 2 meals)

Have your NUT's given you any concrete rules or guidelines? Does anyone have any meal plan suggestions to share?

how in the world do you get 100 g of Protein in, in a day's time? I'm not getting enough and am losing hair and nails so my dr upped my protein by eating protein bar not shake but I certainly do not know how you eat that much, please share...I'm only 1 yr out.

my dietitian said there is approximately 7 g of protein for every once you eat. I have the 2 scoops of Protein powder to make sure I get in my protein. The brand I use is about 52 g for the 2 scoops. I was having a different protein bar and then she said to switch to the Cliff ones.

the Cliff crunchy peanut butter ones only and don't quote me on this has only 11 grs of protein and those are the only ones I can stomach, which ones are higher and not nasty?

I just looked at the boxes. They are Cliff Builder's 20g protein bar. I buy chocolate, chocolate peanut better and chocolate mint. They all taste good. I buy them at Target for $7.84 for I think 6 in a box. I just ripped the top off to see what. I am very fussy with what i eat and I found these 3 flavors good. I have seen some flavors at Walmart, also for about the same price.

I will have to look at Walmart for the chocolate Peanut Butter, I think I could handle those, sounds good!!! thanks a bunch. I don't have a Target close by well its 30 mins away but I think my Walmart will carry them.

Ok I just re-read the thread and compliled a list of the rules everyone came up with ... I think im gonna post this on the wall of my cube at work.

  1. eat 1000 cals a day or under (1 cup of food per meal)
  2. get at least 60-80g or protein
  3. only have 2 carb servings per day (only with 2 meals) – GOOD CARBS only (not bread, pasta, etc)
  4. drink 64 oz of water a day
  5. eat protein FIRST
  6. no alcohol
  7. MEASURE your food – don’t eyeball it

Thanks Sunshyne, for the recap. I think I'm going to do the samething. About to move from moisten foods to regular and these guidelines r perfect. Good luck to u.
