Hi' date=' thanks for asking. My surgery got postponed 10 days because my wife got banded on the 10th and her recovery was a little slower than we anticipated (very sore and very nauseous. The nausea passed after two days). She's doing great now, 2 weeks post op and the two weeks of the liquid diet and she's down almost 30 pounds and feels better than she has in years. She's on this board but never gets a chance to come on.

I am going this wednesday and I'm a little nervous. But nothing is stopping me at this point. Will definitely give an update after.[/quote']

That's great news Mike. I have to say I was very surprised at the lack if pain with this surgery. I was expecting more. I had a small hiatal hernia that was repaired also and my surgeon told me to expect left shoulder pain but I didn't have any. The Gas x strips are a must- they will be your savior! I think I took two or three Percocet and that was it. I work where the lap bands are done at my hospital and I had a great anesthesiologist and surgeon. No nausea for me, but I believe alot of that is tied to anesthesia effects. Good luck to you in surgery day and keep us posted of you and your wife's progress!

Good luck Mike!

Lori, I am a little worse off for day 2. I am very sore in the port area when I get up or down. I hope it passes soon.

I've always been taught poD #4 can be your worst as far as any surgery. It will pass, take your pain meds as prescribed when you need them but mostly rest rest rest!

Thanks for asking. I am better this evening than I was this morning. I am a bit weak and my calf muscles hurt if I stand too long. I slipped getting in the shower and landed on my knee, which is now swollen and turning purple. I have a lot of pressure in my chest and very bloated.

How are you?

Oh I changed my display name.

Hi everyone I was banded aug 29 2012 I am down about 90 lbs. over all. I have recently stop eating correctly ( which is key to this) and have hit a Plato. I think some days are easier then others for sure. I think it's great that you guys have chosen to take control of your lives back from the fat. I am here if you want to chat or need help or anything. I have started reading all the post here and I think I will start walking again tomarrow.

I was banded last Monday the 24th. I am still having pretty bad pain mostly from trapped gas. I also had a hernia repair. I get stabbing pain in my left abdomen when I take a deep breath. I really am getting tired of this level of pain! Doing all the steps to help the gas dissipate (Gas X, walking, and using heating pad), but still really struggling. I hope this eases soon. Did not help that I had a weird reaction to my liquid Multivitamin that required an ER visit yesterday. Turned out the multivitamin had excessive niacin that made me flush bright red in the face, neck, and chest--so not an allergic reaction.

Hi Joy, I was banded on the 21st. I promise it gets better. I felt pretty crappy days 2-4 post-op. Since then, each day has been better and better.

Ouch! I did that once. I had bought some niacin because I read it helped with cholesterol. Well, I started flushing and it burned, I looked like my whole body had a sunburn! I was scared and took myself to the ER.

Good luck. You will do great! My post op was easy but weight loss was slow for me. Always couple pounds here and there. Your wife seems to be doing very well. Nice to have a built in dirt partner.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
