T-minus 4 days until pre-op diet (4 shakes and 1/2 cup veggies per day for 2 weeks). Tomorrow is my last day home before traveling for work so my fam is doing a lean seafood feast for me before I go. Protein for everyone!

Try adding some vanilla extract to the vanilla shake. That's what my nut told me.

You will all do great on the pre-op diet because if I can do it anyone can lol! I have been on mine 7 days and I have lost 7 additional pounds :) I was forgetting how good it feels to see the number on the scale go down every day. I had a loss of energy but that has come back for the most part. I still struggle a little if I wait too long between meals. I become very grumpy!

Same here I have been on preop for five days and have lost seven. A littler tired and grumpy but yesterday someone actually asked if I lost weight. She said she noticed it in my face right away. Made me feel great!!!

I start my pre op diet on Monday! I'm soooo nervous ...

I am on day 7 and believe me you can do this! First 2 days were my worst. I was "mourning" the food I did not eat lol! I kept thinking "Why didn't I go to Cracker Barrel last week" or "Man I didn't think of eating Arby's before this". It was horrible but then I got on the scale and saw that I had dropped 4 pounds and I got excited. Now I get on it everyday and it keeps me motivated to see it keep going down.

Had my farewell lobster tonight - with just some fresh lemon juice on it - great meal. Low calorie, high Protein - and it takes so long to get out of the shell it naturally slows down the meal. I hope once I'm banded I will still be able to eat it. Seems like most folks can eat most things so I'm optimistic, though my nutritionist warned this may be akin to steak in terms of a tough protein to chew down enough to get to applesauce consistency.

Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning' date=' and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day.

Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?[/quote']

Hello! My name is Maggie and I am being banded on July 3. The day after my birthday and day before the 4th! Congratulations on your surgery date :) my myfitnesspal username is westcomk. Please add me! I'd love for all of us and any of us to encourage one another.

As far as traveling while on your liquid diet, I'm in two weddings this summer and it just so happens that I am going to be right in the middle of my pre-op phase this upcoming weekend during an out of town bachelorette bash. I keep thinking to myself "why am I doing this to myself???" No alcohol, no food....probably playing babysitter to some wonderful fellow bridesmaids and bride. I already paid for hotel and just feel absolutely awful backing out of it. We are even going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner on Friday...OUUUUCH! Lol. So, I'm here for ya if you need to vent.

I started my liquid diet this morning. I'm dealing with some pretty substantial food cravings right now, but keep pushing through psychologically :)

Please feel free to add me on mfp, anyone! Username is westcomk. So thankful for this forum!

Hi Lisa! My name is Maggie! My surgery date is July 3, the day after my birthday and week after an out of town commitment I have. Here's to no birthday dinner/cake/ or ordering food while traveling!

WE CAN DO THIS :) it's amazing to me how much my life revolves around food. I started my liquid diet today and it's just crazy. I'm currently planning grocery shopping, clipping coupons, and staring at food ads everywhere lol.

I got the call this week also' date=' mine is scheduled for July 3rd, so I doubt I will have any problem avoiding the festivities. Whatever, if they would have given me the day before thanksgiving I would have taken it and said thank you very much. I'm just excited to finally be having the procedure.[/quote']

I'm a July 3rd bander as well :) Congrats!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
