Janet, the only pattern I have noticed is that around 4 hours after eating dinner the reflux begins. I'm not eating anything different, nothing spicy. It seems that in the evening when my pouch is empty though I am not hungry, I can feel the burning sensation.

I've been trying Tums, drinking some low fat milk, and newest item to try is cottage cheese. I remember that my father who had an ulcer, would have a shot glass of half 'n half. I can't afford those calories...he never had a weight issue.

My medications in the evening have not changed in years. I wake up in the morning feeling fine. I tolerate all meals fine...until the evening.

Most of the day it feels like I am in the green zone...but occasionally my band is suddenly too tight. All this with about half of the Fluid I used to have in my band.

I hope the new doctor has some new insights to share...

I pray they do too...

So happy to hear about Sushi. If dogs are like ppl, they can live for quite awhile on medication.

I always heard that milk products are not good for acid. Will have to google that.

Ditto what Terri posted...definitely concerned about Diane...

I never heard about dairy not being good for acid...I will look into it.

Good night, and hope everyone has a great Friday.

The new version of date night has emerged...date afternoon. Subject to change with the circumstances...

good morning ladies. Yay, for Sushi feeling better.

How is everyone? Are we mosquito free yet Mom? How's my sister's from another mister doing? Ange putting on some weight and still feeling ok with all the excitement of moving, etc.? Are we going biking this weekend?

Twin, of course you had to pick your pattern first. You know mom loves you more, suck up! LOL How's your injury coming along? That must've really hurt and if makeup doesn't cover it, a nice story to explain to people that think you have been battered. How's it going w/ school out? I am so excited for you being so close to finishing your school!!! I am sure the CPA exam will be a brut though! You are definitely the smarter twin!!

Diane, big hug and keeping you in my thoughts! So glad at least work surveys are over for a while and hope the CMS one went well.

Nicole, enjoying your days/weeks off? That is awesome you were able to get several weeks off. :) I hope swimming went well over the weekend. Your coworkers are going to see a whole new you when you come back the way you've been doing! :)

Terri, pool parties this weekend? What time should we all be over? I get the neon green raft! :) How are you doing? Have you been getting back to "pre cruise" weight or still struggling with that?

Dee, I was saddened to see the news about your dog. :( Hang in there, my friend. I can imagine how difficult that is and was.

Good Morning all,

Happy Friday!

Dawn, thanks for your caring words...I hope to get some answers by the end of the month. How has the severemweathermaffected your area? Whenever they mention themseveremweather in the upper mid-west, I think of you. Glad that you are getting accostomed to your new life at work!

Janet...don't forget, we want to see pictures of your completed quilt! I hope you are feeling more like your normal self after all of the chaos of the move. How is Ange feeling?

Dee, thanks for checking in. I feel your heartache. We will be there too, just don't know how much time we have bought for Sushi. Keep in touch...more big hugs to you and your family.

I hope and pray that Diane is doing ok with her ongoing challenges with her mother. I'm concerned...I hope she will join us in Asheville...

Terri, everything still "go" for the 26th? I hope so, I am looking forward to it! What other summer travel plans do you have?

Nicole...taking no news to be good news. Good to know that you are doing well and enjoying your time off.

Michelle...be careful at the gym...all I can say is ouch! It could have been worse, and glad it wasn't.

We will be driving south to Ft Benning to spent one more evening with Seth on the 24th...he will then be leaving on his deployment. We are doing our best to be supportive, it's difficult for many reasons.

The kitchen cabinets will be delivered on 7/17. The installation will be a bit longer than normal, as we will be building a half wall as part of the island. We cannot get that done until we have the cabinets in place. We still have to purchase the cook top, the microwave, and the dishwasher.

Still taking a day at a time...BBL...

Good morning ladies. Happy Friday! What's everyone's Father's Day plans? I will be thanking my heavenly Father first, for all He has done for rotten ole me and blessing me with such wonderful friends here. Then will have fond memories of my dad, who loved me more than any other man could. Then I will fix my hub and extra good Breakfast and wait on him hand and foot all day, even though he is not my father, lol which sometimes I have to remind him " you ain't my daddy, don't tell me what to do". See, I am not always a peace maker, sometimes a little of a trouble maker.

Carole, I am feeling much better. Had a really goodnights sleep last night, yeah.

I will post pictures of my finished quilt, when I finish it.lol

Every time I think I'll sit down to work on it, someone calls me away. Today is the day!!!!

I could send pictures of all the fabric I have collected, for future projects. I have 4 things planned, bought and waiting. Maddy's lap quilt, all cut and planned, just needs sewing. Another baby blanket, fabric bought and just thought of pattern this AM. A beautiful red, black and white fabrics I like and Ange & Evans quilt that I just ordered. Not to mention all the fabrics I have purchase and have no idea what for.lol Maybe something for my ctwins...

Ange is in total bliss. She loves her new home. She is feeling well and all this makes momma feel really good too.

Thank all of you who have asked about her!

I forgot to share what my son in law said about me , last weekend.

He said to Ange " this might sound strange, but I miss your mom". How sweet is that!

Carole, I know your time with Seth will be tough and my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Us moms understand, men don't get it.

I'm so excited seeing pictures of your hgtv kitchen episode. Its like waiting for a season premier.

Dawn, The mosquitoes were still pretty thick last night. Even though I'm treating my standing Water, the rest of swampy FL is not. If our county could send the helicopters up and start spraying, we might get a handle on it. They tend to start at the end of summer. Go figure!

I'm hoping to ride my bike this weekend. My knee blew out at VS yesterday, was ready to offer a stranger $20 to wheel me out to my car. But I limped slowly out, ppl watching me and feeling very self conscious. By the time I got to my car, I had worked it out and just a little sore today. By tomorrow it should be back to "normal", whatever that is.

Did you get your new seat? I do have a nice padded seat.

No pool parties this weekend, but Dawn you are always welcome!

Last I heard from Diane she said she would be at lunch on the 26th.

Janet... you've definitely got quilt fever... more fabric and project waiting. Good for you!

Carole, have a safe trip to GA.... wishing Seth an uneventful deployment. Prayers going up!

Doreen, our hearts break for you. Looking forward to meeting your family in July.

Michele, good luck with your final studies. You got this covered! If you can succeed with Lap band you can do anything!

Cawa... Hope you are enjoying your days off! Enjoy the pool and life in general!

Off to walk the mall with hubby today and work on our challenge for June! So far we are ahead of pace!

As for the cruise weight, I am back down to where I was before the gingersnaps... and have high hope for this week. I am logging everything and clearly having a bit of a late night sweet tooth, which is odd because sweets were never my problem. Sigh. I will over come.!

Happy day and weekend to all!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
