So I just got home, I'm officially banded and in PAIN!i honestly didnt think it was going to be this bad...and I'm thirsty and hungry :( I just want a ice cold sugar free Italian ice! And my Doberman who sleeps in bed with me is crying at my bedroom door, because she can't sleep with me, I feel so bad... Please tell me this gets better!

It gets better. Maybe not tomorrow but the day after for sure. The first few days are the worst.

My Bullmastiffs both freaked out because I didn't let them in the room and they couldn't sit on the couch on me.

Take your pain meds every few hours and good luck. Make sure to walk as much as possible

Hi there - I was banded last Friday - take your pain meds. Yes it hurt for the first 24 to 36 hours and then went to discomfort for a few days. I stopped the meds Monday night and I had trouble taking deep breaths for 4 days and felt sick to my stomach for a couple. Today six days out I can say I feel normal.

YES it gets better! Hang in there and remember all the reasons why you got banded, overcoming the pain and discomfort of being overweight has been worth a couple of days of pain (for me).

Getting up and down was the worst! That and gas pains.

I have a 5 month old that jumps and year and 4 month old that holds true to his name and will bulldoze (dozer) you lol. If give it a few days before sleeping with the pups..

You will be OK Stephanie. I on day 3 from my surgery and it has gotten a little better so yours should too. Luckily my babies are only 10 pounds, but I still don't let them jump in my lap, I'm afraid they'll hit my stomach. But yes getting up and down is the worse especially getting up and down from the toilet.:) Good luck girl

Stephanie

I agree with everything said above. It does get better. I had my surgery on 12/18/12 and did a half marathon on 1/20/13. So, as you can see it is short lived. Time to get healthy!

I'm doing OK except for getting up and down. And I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? I'm worried I'll stretch my pouch, can you do that on liquids?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
