In search of lap band books and articles

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm 10 1/2 mo's post op, at a stand still on my weight loss for the past 5 weeks, grrr. Maybe it's a plateau, hope so and hope it will end soon as I've introduced walking into my journey. I am ISO any books on lap band and articles that any of you would recommend. I have the Bandwangon book and loved it, was wanting to know if there are any other good reads out there? Cookbooks too that would be band friendly? At this stage in my journey I'm losing hair so I'm afraid I'm not getting enough Protein in my diet. My dr has added a Protein shake to my diet a day this past week. I see him for a fill day after tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Donna

Jean McMillan has both a cookbook and an informational book at the bottom of this page-Bandwagon and Bandwagon cookbook. I recommend both. I was kind of wandering along two years post banding not losing anymore when I found her Bandwagon book. I'm 8 lbs away from my goal because I FINALLY understand my band and how it's supposed to work.

I go on Spark People for tons of goods recipies and they have an app for your phone that I love. I did purchase one book from Amazon called "The Emotional First Aid Kit- a Practical Guide to Life After Surgery" that had great reviews but I didn't like it at all. Half of the book was about preparing for surgery and the other half told me nothing new.

thanks for the info, I'll give spark people a try and thanks for the heads up on the book, certainly don't want to invest in something that isn't worth while. Like I said, I have Jean's book Bandwagon and its a gem.

Thanks Donna I will have to lol into obtaining that book.

Don't get it on Amazon, try and get it on here, there used to be an advertisement on this website to purchase it or you could post to Jean McMillan and she will answer you to order one. I think its like $20 something.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
