Good Day- Got my first fill...

Recommended Posts

The third time is the charm! (side note: I live about 45 minutes away from my surgeon so these were long round trips to get a fill!) On March 21, I tried to get a fill but the flouroscope was broke. I went this past Monday and the PA could not access my port. I have a huge bruise to show from the experience. Fortunately, she had given me an injection of lidocaine so I did not feel the 15-20 minutes of probing with the needle!

I went again this morning (and waited an hour!) but my surgeon was able to access my port in one try. He was great. He put 4cc in my band (14 cc band.) I'm on liquids for 2 days and then purees for 2 days. I am hoping to get another jump start on my stalled weight loss. I have only lost about half a pound in the last two weeks. I know any loss is good but I'm hoping to get to the "green zone" sooner rather than later.

Have a great weekend!

I just got my 4th fill and not in green zone yet, but close I think. Its been slow for me, still plugging away and watching my cals intake till I get there!

Hang in there!

Happy to hear it went well today. I have never had a fill with a flouroscope. My doctor has me raise my legs and the port sort of pops out. I was seeing my doctor at the Boston hospital where I got the band and had to allow 1 hour for travel. He now goes to the local hospital, 5 miles away, and I get to see him there and parking is free, no Boston fees. It is a real pain to travel far. Have a great spring weekend.

This is in no way a criticism, merely a muse on how we have different perspectives on things in life. I smile when I read people talking about having to travel a long way to see their surgeon, like 45 minutes or an hour. That sort of travelling time is nothing to rural Aussies like me! A trip of three to four hours and I start to think that is a long one.

PS I am glad you were finally able to get your fill done.

best wishes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
