BANDED JAN 4th no loss JUST GAIN :(

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I was banded jan 4th 2013 and weighed 206 on surgery day. My band is a 10cc band. At the time of surgery they had filled it to 3,5ccs. First month was ok. I have to admit tho I did move into solids before I was supposed to. By week 3. I felt fine. Didn't feel any restriction at all. I have had 2 fills since then and my band is now at 5.5 cc. I do feel like I'm not as hungry as before but I still don't get that "full" feeling. I'm not on a strict diet or anything because my surgeon said to make healthy choices and that's what I do. I'm not sure how to feel At this point. It's been 3 months and my weight now is 224. I feel like a failure already. My next fill is next Wednesday. Any one have similar scenarios ? I feel so hopeless...not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling ......???ž

PLS SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND ADVICE PLEASSSSEEEE !

Have you met with a nutritionist? If not, I would URGE you to do that with someone familiar w/ the band. Most of us are given guidelines of what to eat. Just eating healthy is not good advice, in my opinion. You need sample menus, guidelines, etc. For example, my NUT and dr. have me on 1200 calories per day and 60-70 grams of Protein. If I do not get in the proper Protein, I am hungry. Eating solid Proteins, followed by fruit/veggies will help keep you satiated and help you lose.

You are not a failure, it just sounds like you need direction. Also, make sure you aren't taking in too many liquid calories. Those won't do much for you and no more than 1 Protein shake per day.

I agree with newdawn! Start over and talk to a nutritionist. Best wishes, Karen

I don't know if the lap band is suppose to give you the "full" feeling your looking for. It's suppose to make you feel "satisfied" longer on less food. And you did say that you are not as hungry, so I'm assuming it's working properly. Unfortunately in the beginning it's very important to keep track of calories. Your trying to get to the proper restriction right now and without it, it can be very easy to overeat. It's also important to get the proper amount of protien and Water for the day.

Like the others said, seeing a nutritionist is a great idea.

Don't feel hopeless!!! It's hard to figure it all out. There is a lot of information we have to remember! Maybe take a relook at the information about the band and the rules to follow. There may be some things you have forgot to apply.

Good luck! Your not alone!

U won't feel full. Measure 1 cup of food, Protein first. Eat every 3-4 hours. Don't eat more than that, for now u r on a diet. Make good choices is fine, but u need structure.

to gain weight, you must eat calories. 3500 calories is a pound. if you eat or drink that and more, you will gain...to lose weight, you have to eat less calories than you can burn off. nudie is correct, please refer to your nutritionist to see what to eat/not to eat and how to make better choices. (say no to processed foods/fast foods/sodium filled snacks) say YES to lean proteins/veggies and fruit and drink alot........best of luck to you hon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
