I'm an April Banster too (April 3). Good luck! :D

My pre-op is sugar busters. However, I've been on it for quite some time already and dropped a little weight. I just stalled out about 2 weeks ago where I am now. Anyway, I can eat mostly Proteins and vegetables minus the starchy and sugary ones. Pretty much what we should eat post op after we are off liquids and onto real food.

As far as the person goes that is "trying to wake some sense in some," I'd ignore the person. I agree 100% with lilmispcl. We can lose weight, but often we cannot sustain. In fact, as soon as I get around 205-210, the weight starts adding back. I use to go to the gym 5x a week, count every single calorie, and even took prescribed weight loss pills and stalled out and gained it all back while still working that hard!!!

Like my doctor said, it isn't a cure. It is a tool to aid us on the journey. The tool for me isn't just the band. It is the team helping me on my journey, the process, the education, etc. I have learned so much already and hope to continue learning.

I'm trying to get my band for the 2nd time now. Long story!!! But my date is April 8th!

My diet is consisting of only 700 calories. It's a beast of a diet!

Why is my pre op diet so strict? Ugh only 3 to 4 Protein shakes and Water (I drink it with mio) holy hell!!! I'm finishing up day three. I went to a wedding today and reception with loads of yummy smelling food and plenty to drink. I wasn't at hungry just awkward that everyone else was eating and I was just sitting there drinking Water. But I can at least say I didn't cheat and that was a test and I passed with flying colors:)

Mine is the same way! Optifast 4-5 premixed 8oz shakes a day and drink at least 2 quarts of water a day. I can also "eat" sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles and and can have a cup of chicken broth if I feel light headed. It's no fun. I just want to chew lol. I went out with friends last night and I would have killed for my friends Caesar salad it looked so good! I survived so I know I can do this :)

My teens are still amazed that I can cook for yhem an not eat any if it an they have been very supportive like not wanting to eat in front of me and stuff but I am encouraging them not to change their habits because I can't eat at the moment. I did 14 days 1 meal an 2 shakes now day 2 of all liquids an so far so good one more day an then banded on Tuesday .... Sending lots of strength to you

It sounds like some pre-op diets are stricter. I only have 2 shakes a day and get one meal with 4oz Protein and 1/2 cup veggies. The first 3 days were the hardest for me. I had a constant headache the just wouldn't go away. And I couldn't take any Advil because of the blood thinning. Tylenol does nothing for me. I'm starting day six this morning. It's still hard but I sticking to it.

Nobody jump me but my preop diet consisted of no solids only Clear Liquids starting at midnight the night before and lasted 48 hours after surgery...now I'm on "pour of the spoon" foods aka purees no lumps no bumps....I think I would have secretly gone all modern day interpretation of a vampire and hunted wild animals if I had to do a long pre op like you guys. Then again mine may have been different because I wasn't even approved for my surgery until Tuesday and then Surgery was already scheduled for Thursday. Hmm I wonder if it would have been any different... Best of luck to everyone!!! Can't wait to see your success and just remember there will always be a negative person out there to tear down the band....but we are all individuals with our own body's, goals, and minds.....I have faith in you all succeeding!

I'm on day one of 14 day opti fast diet. shakes & Protein bars. My doctor said its to drop weight quick in order to shrink the liver for quick healing. If I understood correctly for the reasoning. I'm 237.4 lbs 5'6". Doctor said 12-15 lbs in 14 days.

I am on Optifast too good luck! It's hard and I don't get the bars :( today is day 6 for me and I am down 6 pounds :) that's the only good part lol. I am not hungry just miss chewing so you'll probably be fine because u get the bars

My EXACT HEIGHT AND WEIGHT! No surgery date yet and not approved :-(.

I was lucky. I have BCBS of VA and they don't require anything but a shrink clearance and one medical condition.

I only want to be 150-160. How bout u?

I am shooting for the same - actually 170 would be good for me too. I just hope my insurance don't give me a hard time. I have Aetna. I feel like my body can't handle another pound! I am maxed out!

We are about the same size- I'm 5'6 and 230- I have horizon bcbs nj- go for my last supervised visit next week. I hope I don't have issues with a Bmi of 37.1. According to insurance I must have at least 1 co-morbidity- from the list they provided I have 5.

When do you turn your stuff into insurance?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
