morning or evening?

Recommended Posts

All the research I've done says that morning exercise is the best? Has anyone noted that? I'm thinking that doing something is better than nothing regardless of the time. If I start in the morning though...there is a lot less chance of making excuses. Thoughts?

Morning exercise is generally recommended because the effect of exercise on your metabolism lingers for a while after you finish, so the thought is that if you exercise in the morning, your metabolism will be revved up during the day when you're most likely to be taking in calories. But the bottom line is actually that the best time for exercise is whenever you're most likely to do it. If your schedule works best with evening exercise, then that's when you should do it. :)

Good luck.

I too have read it's better to exercise earlier in the day. It gets your body heated up and metabolism working better through the day. Plus, exercising too close to bed time can actually cause you to have problems falling asleep at night because your adrenaline is too high to rest.

With that said, it's always better to exercise rather than not at all, regardless of time of day. I personally think if you can early in the day- great. But if not you're still going to greatly benefit from any exercise any time of day.

If I could get my butt up at 4am, I would exercise in the morning as evenings have things come up and you can miss out on exercise (fortunately I use my lunch at work to walk 2 miles a day). But I have heard that morning is better, but doing it period is what counts.

If you have it decided that you're going to exercise in the morning you'll be less likely to miss that day's workout because you have the whole day to play catch up. Also exercising earlier in the day can set you up mentally for the rest of the day. Sometimes, and especially if you're already tired, looking forward to a workout later on can be a little dreadful. I feel personally it's better to get it out of the way. If it's simply a scheduling thing then it probably doesn't matter. Like you said exercising at any time is better than not exercising at all.

The couple of times I did make it out of bed...I just felt fantastic. I kept a promise to myself and no matter what the rest of the day brings, I started with success.

I'm at the gym between 5-6 am, 5 days a week....on a empty stomach, other than my morning coffee, Vitamins, supplements, and a shot of pure liquid protein.....I'll have a high Protein recovery shake afterwards for my breakfast...(I have not, and cannot, eat food in the morning...band too tight)

I do my exercise in the morning to give me energy for the day. If I do them at night I can't sleep.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
