Next week im suppose to get my fill, and I have not lost any weight since my pist op appointment a week ago. Total weight loss was 29 lbs, but I'm stuck at same weight all week I know I shouldnt worry to much but it's bugging me.I feel I have already screwed up yes I have had some bad choices such as not going by the soft food diet and eating things I shouldn't, but I'm getting better. I just need some input and someone to tell me it will get better I guess....HELP!!!

It will get better, but the most important thing to remember is that you're pin bandster hell right now, and you won't be getting out of it until you achieve green zone restriction. That can take several fills. I'm on my 6th fill and I'm not quite certain I'm there, but I think I'm getting close.

Honestly, the best (and hardest) advice I have is to stay off the scale. Losing weight before restriction in extremely hard and a lot of people even gain during this time. If seeing the numbers in the scale drive you bonkers, the only way to avoid that might be not to look at them until your band really starts working for you.

I think if I had followed this advice, I would not have had such a difficult time myself, but it's never too late to do the right thing.

Good luck!

Is this your first fill???

Ok, this is just me talking...but I think people have it backwards...or am I misunderstanding something.....you're supposed to get fill(s) in order to loose weight...if you're already loosing, then you do not need an adjustment...and if you're really good at loosing you did not need the band at all....

What is the band supposed to do? And why is it adjustable?

Even after my first fill of 4 cc, I GAINED weight...my Dr. assured me it was no big deal because the band was not where it should be yet.....

I have been in the same boat these past few days, however, today I am feeling much more positive! What many on here have told me as well as my nutritionist is that the scale doesn't always show the work you're putting into this when you want it to. My nutritionist told me that my body is still adjusting and although I may only be down 1 pound this week, next week I may and most likely will be down more! You're already down 29 pounds! That's wonderful! I'm sure you're just upset because you've had constant weight loss up until this past week so you're bummed out, right? Don't worry about it! The main thing to realize here is that you are still doing what you should be doing regardless! That's a success in itself! Think about the past, before you were banded... if you were feeling bummed out and losing motivation, would you just turn to food and say "forget this" and just eat your emotions away? You're dealing with these emotions completely differently and not turning to food! That's huge!!!

Your behavioral changes are going to help you succeed on this regardless of what the scale says! Chin up, the scale will catch up to you!! :)

It does get better once you have adequate Fluid in your band, but you also have the power to make it better too. You said you haven't made good food choice or stuck to the post op diet- that is totally within your control to change. Keep in mind that while the band will control your hunger once you have the right amount of Fluid in it, it can't make good food choices for you nor is it supposed to physically stop you from eating. You will have to learn to make good choices and stick to band sized portions.

Hang in there and be patient, it takes time.

Best wishes.

You won't lose weight every day, every week or even every month. You can lose fat every day, week or month however if you keep your caloric intake lower than your burn rate and exercise. But daily or weekly struggles with stress, sodium, exercise, simple carbs, medications and TOM can make our bodies retain fluids that show up on the scale.

There might be someone on this forum who will tell you that the journey to their goal never hit a bump in the road? I doubt it? Is there anyone here(banded one year or more) who has not hit a plateau for a week or more, please show us your hand?

Hmmm? Looks like you're in good company!

I weigh myself every day, twice. That way, I know if what I'm eating is working for or against me. I can't imagine waiting a month or even a week just to find out I didn't lose any fat? If you know and understand how your body operates, there should be no reason to feel discouraged over a short plateau or a few lbs here or there.

If I see the scale moving in the wrong direction, it's time to hit the gym or cut out something in my diet.

1. Here's some reassurance: it's way, way too soon to call yourself a failure.

2. Now for the tough love: your band not going to do all the work for you. If you truly want to make the best of your band, now's the time to start following the rules - Portion Control, good food choices, etc. The longer you go on cheating, the harder it will be for you to lose weight, and you're only cheating yourself.

Here's a link to an article that address some of the issues you're facing: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/healthy-living/whats-so-bad-about-cheating-on-the-post-op-r78

Time to get on the bandwagon!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
