I may have messed up today I ate a sandwich from Panera, a half a sandwich to be exact from Panera, turkey and lettuce and that's it I feel like it is still stuck in my throat all the way down my stomch. I thought I chewed really well but obviously not. Has anyone else have this problem before? Help I am freaking out a little bit.

DO NOT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE!

Neither one of you have filled in your profile so we don't know where you are in your journey? But if it's in the first 30 days or even if it's not, throwing up can cause your band to slip. PB'ing is OK, and maybe that's what she meant, but do not vomit or throw up. Vomiting causes your lower and upper stomachs to convulse and attempt to reject food. This violent episode can cause the sutures that hold your band in place to rip out. Your band can slip up or down. So, do not vomit.

I am a little over 6 weeks (01-21-13) out and thank you guys so much I am already feeling better. I was about to drink Water right before I got the mess. Thank you I am sure I would have regretted it. I love having a group of people who have been where I am. No throwing up for me don't want to slip.

Yes, TMF is totally correct, do NOT make yourself throw up. Vomiting is a major cause of slips with the band and the last thing you need is to turn a minor stuck episode into a serious complication.

When was your surgery?

You should really fill out your profile, it makes it easier for us to help.

LOL you posted your surgery date while I was replying :)

Some people have issue with bread. I know I have to be super careful when having a sandwich because it's difficult to take small bites of them. When I can, I use a knife and fork to eat them so I have better bite control.

Take it easy the rest of the day because your stoma is probably irritated from the stuck episode. Once the stuck food has passed, some warm tea might help sooth it too.

If you are on a PC it is easier. Upper right hand side of this page, click on your name, click on my profile, click on edit my profile.

Actually I would throw it up as well. I wouldn't want to be in pain/discomfort for longer than is necessary. Generally when you have discomfort like that the food is sitting above the stoma and it can be brought back quite easily. A couple of good coughs or a toothbrush might be all you need.

Constant vomiting(which comes from below the stoma and is done with force) might cause your band to slip. Coughing up food that is stuck on an occasional basis is highly unlikely too.

Don't make a habit of regurgitating and use this episode as a lesson to be more careful in future.

didn't realize not having my profile updated made my suggestion irrelevant. I'm glad you feel better. If I feel anything stuck I immediately try to get it up before it goes through my band.

Which bread did you have?

I am a panera junkie and when I have the honey wheat I had to chew it until its like nothing.. But the whole wheat baguette (which is crispier) is easier lol

Your profile doesn't make your suggestion irrelevent. It's just difficult to know what level of experience you're at with only 17 posts? And throwing up is not good. PB'ing isn't either but I know we all do it. And it's OK for it to go through the band but very uncomfortable before it does. That's why we PB?

Your font is very small. I've seen this a lot today from some other new forum members? Did you change the font or font size? Hard to read, you might want to try to make it bigger?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
