I was banded on Feb. 8th. I have lost 12 pounds, and I will not have a fill until March6th. I had a hiatal hernia repair when I was banded. I still feel bad. I feel like a knife is going through my chest to my back and I feel lots of upper abdominal pressure. I was wondering if anyone experienced this, and how long it lasts. I don't want to be a baby, but I think I way under estimated my recovery period. Does anyone have any advice?

Have you called your doctor? That should be the first thing you do. It sounds to me like gas pains but that is just a guess. Hope you feel better

I was banded on the 12th, also had a hiatal hernia repair and scar tissue lysis--the pain has been more than I had expected, but each day is getting better. I would call your doctor first and foremost like others have said. Sounds like gas pains, if Dr. allows you can use some mylicon which has helped me. As has heating pads and walking. Pray that you feel better soon.

I have called, waiting to hear back...I think I just was not prepared for how I would feel. I don't know anyone who has had this done. I wonder if it is the lapband or the hernia repair that is the source of this trouble? Thanks for the replies.

Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. Its not that you were underestimating it depends on what your pain thresh hold is. I would hope that by another week you would be feeling better.

I heard back from my doctor. They think it is my gall bladder! I have to get a sonogram - I am so upset at the thought of having another surgery in less than a months time. They sounded like they are pretty positive that this is the issue. My stomach is going to look like a butcher's block. Have any of you had this issue?

I had my lapband surgery nov 2012..but two weeks previous to that I had a very bad gall bladder attack, was on meds for a week. They thought it would delay my lap band procedure, which I definately did not want to do. Anyways, lap band was a go, am now scheduled to have gall bladder out march 5th. Same dr for lap band will be doing my gall bladder operation. Not looking forward to those gas pains again, but oh we'll, I'll get through it.

Well, I spent yesterday being poked and prodded to find that everything is normal. Just a lot of post op swelling. I think I have been drinking my Protein drinks too fast also. I have been so worried about getting that in that I am ignoring my body signals to stop drinking.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get 80 g+ Protein when you feel full after one or two sips?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
