Yep I was told that carbonated drinks can cause pouch dilation. And when I was well restricted, if I tried to have anything carbonated (I once had champagne at a hen's night) the bubbles were in the top part of my band and was bubbling up my throat and into my nose. I figure that couldn't be good.

But each to their own. :)

While soda can not reach your band outside it makes the pouch expand and can cause the band to erode because anything that expands the pouch forces the band into the stomach which over time can cause erosion.

That does make sense if your drinking like a can a day or some hugh amount, I think that is why I was told to limit it and I only do no more than 2 a week, sometimes I dont have any.

appreicate the feed back

Beth.... down here we have Community coffee... it's the best... ummmm None of that weak folgers crap for me.... hehe

When i Pastored a church in Salt Lake City, I had a member who was a truck driver and every time he made a run to the South, he would bring me back a brick of that coffee, it was the blackest stuff I had ever seen, and smelled great. He said the whole town where it was made smelled the same way.

The blackest? Have you ever tried Cuban expresso? Now that's the blackest most delicious coffee that will put hair on your chest! I drink it every morning... Have been since I was about 10:)

Now if it would only take the hair off my back, you might have a deal.

All this talk about strong coffee is making my hair curl. I like my coffee smooth, light and not bitter. I have flat whites every morning and if they're bitter or too strong, I won't go back to that place.

It makes espresso. I have all the Dunkin Donuts coffees and then some. I'm trying to make one of those pretty lattes the coffee shops give you, but it's an art that apparently takes time! I can make Decaf espresso or regular, all depends on my mood.

I just posted the site dicussing caffeine cuz alot of people have this thought or the other on caffeine, figured it would be cool to see. Apparently I struck a chord here, LOVE all the talk!

I want to be able to create the above latte's....

A friend of mine who had the band would open and drink one diet coke a day. He would sip it and let it almost go flat. I have drank soda a few times but I feel terrible afterwards so I don't bother with it.

I was told by my surgeon and nutritionist that the only reason they don't want me to have caffeine is because it dehydrates you, and they want us to stay hydrated. I drink coffee alot (from the south) and have been since I was a little girl, even my 5 yr old drinks coffee with me :) so I have both with caffeine and Decaf just what ever I choose for that day..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
