Very Stressed Out

Hey everyone.

I got banded in July. By the time it was August, I had lost 20 pounds. I was 235 lbs.

I went for a fill in September and they said I gained 5 pounds. Now I was 220.

I went back in November for a fill again then they said my weight was the same - 220.

I went back in January and I was the same weight yet again - 220.

I went in today and I'm the same damn weight - 220.

Why am I not losing weight?

I am doing my best with eating right. I do go to the gym ... I just don't get it.

The doctor says I need a few more adjustments before I can really lose weight. He promised that I'll lose weight as long as I keep eating right and exercising.

Does anyone have tips? Is it true that you can not be losing or gaining weight? I'm just stressed out over this. :(

Demand to know your cc's. refuse to leave the office until YOU are happy with the restriction. He may be filling you too slowly - if you felt the right restriction before, accept no substitute. Be your own advocate! You shouldn't be hungry.

Don't mean to disagree with you but how many CCs in your band is irrelevent. It may be information you'd like to have but it has no bearing on restriction as each of us are all so different and restriction is a moving target. The amount of saline in my band, your band or anyone's band will vary due to different anatomys, different doctors, different band placements etc. Some find the best restriction with 0 CCs and others may need all 10-14?

That wasn't what I meant - it's silly for someone to not know what is happening in their own body...OP said the doc doesn't tell her what he's filling. That's problem #1. If she's had multiple fills and months and months later still is feeling no restriction, she is perfectly empowered to ask for a bigger fill (if doc agrees with it). I'm saying this should not be a one way relationship, doctor to band. It should be a three way conversation. :)

Then we are in agreement.

I agree with the comment about checking your inches and your clothes. Are you improving your muscle strength and endurance at the gym? Can you run longer or do more reps or lift more? How are you clothes feeling?

as of recently my clothes felt more snug .... and i feel like my face is getting fatter ....

i spoke to my doctor and the dietician gave me a meal plan that im going to follow.

how much exercise should i be getting?

Clothes feeling more snug and face feeling fat sounds like Water retention. What you are eating is just as important as how much you are eating. Try staying away from high sodium foods also caffeine.

I have the same problem. Before surgery I was 230 ,now I'm on 207 . But since January 21 , I haven't lose no even one pound . I'm still on full liquids .

I have grits , for breakfast no more than one oz , pea soup 6 oz and more soup for dinner . I'm really frustrated . Doing exercised 2 times a week . Don't know what o do :(

Why are you still on "full liquids"? Grits, pea soup and more soup... High in carbs. Do you trck your food on something like myfitnesspal.com?? No wonder your struggling!

You certainly have a different menu than most of us do? You should be on solids by now and not eating slider foods. You can lose weight eating those foods(depending on your calorie intake) but you're defeating the purpose of having the band?

My doctor said to prevent any complication , that's why still on full liquids . And I do track, what I eat . No more than 4 to 6 oz of the soup. .

I'm agree with you , about my menu. But he said to prevent complications :( . I'm aloud to have 4 to 6 oz of soup, and with that I feel full.

Maybe he knows something we don't know but his approach is rather unorthodox. I won't advise you stray away from his instructions but If i were you I would do some research and ask him why he's advocating his approach over hundreds of other doctors who mostly adhere to a very different eating strategy?

Double check with him and make sure you didn't misunderstand his strategy?

He may be filling you too slowly...each visit, after all, is money in his pocket...very cynical, I know, but not out of the realm of possible...
